Audrey Johnson Edwards died in a memory care center in Vancouver, WA on Friday, August 4, 2017. She lived and loved us for 103 years and has gone on to sing in the heavenly choir. She was born April 8, 1914 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and moved with her parents Cyrus and Maude Green and siblings to Outlook, WA when she was three and to Vancouver in 1928. She graduated from Vancouver High School in 1931.
Audrey was married to Bill Johnson and Hugh Edwards, both deceased. She is survived by two children: Carol Jensen of Vancouver and Phil Johnson and wife Ann of Stony Brook, Long Island, NY; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Survivors also include loving nieces and nephews and step-son Hugh Edwards who lives in Soldotna, Alaska, his three children, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Audrey was a bookkeeper at The Columbian newspaper for eleven years and a bookkeeper and office manager for the Nicewonger Company for twenty years.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for over eighty years where she sang in the church choir, was a member of the Church Council and a leader in women's organizations. Her memorial service will be Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1309 Franklin St., in Vancouver. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
