Arthur Willard Spoo of Vancouver, WA, passed away at the Southwest Washington Medical Center. He was born in Corning, CA to Edward Henry Spoo and Hazel Mae (Templeton) Spoo and grew up in Sisters, OR.
Arthur married Lilly Susanna Caviness of Canby, OR on Dec. 29, 1940 and they were married for 70 years.
Arthur served in the Navy in Farragut, ID, Aug. 1944-March 1946.
He co-founded Mitchell Pine Lumber Company of Mitchell, OR in 1940 with father, Ed, and brothers, Willis and Bob. Arthur, better known as "Bud", ran the production end of the milling operation along with the business office.
Bud graduated from Walla Walla College in 1949 with a B.S. in Business Administration.
He was hired as Assistant Treasurer for the Oregon Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in 1949 where he stayed until 1952.
In 1952 returned to College Place, Washington when Bud was offered the position of Vice-President for Finance at Walla Walla College. Served until June of 1965.
Bud took a position within the Trust Department of Loma Linda University, in Loma Linda, CA in Aug. 1965 and remained with the University in various areas of responsibility until his retirement.
Bud is survived by his wife, Lilly of Vancouver; daughters, Susanna Danielson of Vancouver and Cynthia and Curtis Wiggins of Lewiston, ID; grandchildren, Kimberly and Scott Atkin of Lake Oswego, OR, Allison and Andre Krasich of Santa Barbara, CA, Jeremy and Edith Wiggins of Lewiston, ID, and Erin and Jay Sleeth of Happy Valley, OR; ten great-grandchildren; nieces, Beverly and Harry Danielson of Diamond Head, MS, Jeni Crane of Hanford, CA; nephews, Randy and Kathy Spoo of Clovis, CA, Bill and Charlene Spoo of Gerlach, NV and Jim and Jean Spoo of Sparks, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hazel; brothers, Willis, Bob, and infant brother, Gerald; nephews, Ed Spoo, Rick Danielson and Chris Danielson.
Funeral services will be held at Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church, 10501 SE Market St., Portland, OR 97216 (503-252-8080) on Sat., May 7, 2011 at 3:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Beacon Christian School, 615 Stewart Ave., Lewiston, ID 83501.
