Arlyce "Arley" Lea Lewis, 84, of Vancouver, Washington, died peacefully July 13th, 2018. Arley was born June 7th, 1934, the only child of Arthur and Frances (Huetson) Brown of Vermillion, South Dakota. At the young age of eleven Arley learned to play the flute. During her lifetime she played in ten or more orchestras.
Arley headed west when offered a job in Corvallis, Oregon with the US Department of Agriculture. From there she became a claims rep with Social Security in Salem.
On November 2nd, 1968, in Reno, Nevada, she married Bill Lewis, who also worked for Social Security. They moved near Santa Rosa, California, where their daughter Tamara "Tammy" was born.
In 1970 the family moved to Seattle, Washington where Bill received a promotion. In 1974 Bill became manager of the Portland Social Security office.
In 1990 they built their home of 24 years in Fairway Village in Vancouver. Bill died of Parkinson's in July 2017.
Bill and Arley's daughter, Mrs. Steve (Tamara) Walker of Snohomish, Washington, survives her.
A celebration of Arley's life will be held at Touchmark at Fairway Village, 2911 SE Village Loop, on Saturday, August 4th at 10 a.m. (Touchmark is just off SE 164th Avenue near IHOP.)
