Arden "Ardy" Harrah, 89, of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully Tues., April 19, 2011, leaving many friends to grieve his loss. He was born Aug. 17, 1921 in Milton Freewater, OR.
Ardy served in the Army during WW II as an artillery technician in testing and development. He served active duty in the Philippines and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
Ardy was a florist for many years and then taught floristry at Portland Community College.
He was a watercolor painter and an excellent photographer and he was active in many art organizations. Ardy belonged to Southwest Washington Watercolor Society, Society of Washington Artists, Portland Fine Arts, Oregon Society of Artists, and was active in all of them; at one time he belonged to six art organizations.
Ardy exhibited his watercolors at the Portland Saturday Market, and when the Vancouver Farmers Market opened, he was one of the first to sign up and displayed his art there for many years. He was a founding member of Gallery 21, in downtown Vancouver, and was their bookkeeper for many years.
