Archie G Stack, 88, of Battle Ground, WA, passed away March 21, 2011. He was born on November 24, 1922 in St. Louis, MO to Samuel and Ella Stack.
Archie served in the Army from 1944 to 1946. He graduated from Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C,. in 1948 and then started his teaching career at North Carolina School for the Deaf from 1948 to 1952. He transferred to Washington State School for the Deaf in 1952, where he was teacher, principal, and then superintendent until his retirement in 1983.
Archie met the love of his life, Linda Stack, at the Washington State School for the Deaf. They married August 1, 1953 and raised three daughters.
Archie enjoyed growing vegetables, fishing, hunting and buying scratch tickets. His passion was his family and trips to Las Vegas.
Archie is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Trina, Melanie and Kristi; son-in-laws, Pat and Phil; four grandchildren; two step-grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Adam, Ernest, Henry; sisters, Margaret, Elizabeth and Peggy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clark County Humane Society, W.S.D.A.A., Washington State Association of the Deaf, SWCDHH, Vancouver or your favorite charity.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel on April 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
