(TARRANT) WINTERS
August 3, 1931 ~ March 3, 2016
Fran Winters, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016. She was born in Ash Grove, Missouri to Robert and Amanda Tarrant, the youngest of seven children and the last surviving member of her family.
Fran's family moved to Vancouver, WA in 1941 so her father could help in the war effort by working in the Kaiser Shipyard while two of her brothers were serving overseas. She attended Ogden Meadows High School until it burned down, then Vancouver High School where she met Don Winters. They were married in 1951.
Fran was mother to Jane (Mike) Wright of Gresham, OR; Stan (Vania) Winters of Peshastin, WA, and David (Julie) Winters, Leavenworth, WA; and Nana to Charlie, Madeline, Sam, Chris, Joseph, and Olivia.
Fran's first and favorite career was being a mother. Once her youngest, David, was in school she went to work at Lewis Junior High and later worked at Clark College in the Registration Office, a position she held for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1993.
Music was something she loved. Fran sang in the choir at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. Later she joined the choir at Fairway Village where she lived. She enjoyed travel, sewing, needle work, concerts, plays, and spending time with her many friends.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Don.
A remembrance service and reception will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Fairway Village Club House, 15509 SE Fernwood Drive, Vancouver.
