William C. "Bill" Miller III(1932 - 2016)

February 18, 1932 ~ December 22, 2016

William C. "Bill" Miller Ill died on December 22, 2016 in Salem, Oregon at 84. He battled multiple diseases and succumbed to complications from a stroke. Bill is survived by his loving wife Jackie Miller. They were married on September 12, 1953 and enjoyed 63 years full of adventures together. Until the moment he left this earth to be with his Savior Jesus Christ, she was the love of his life!
Bill was born in Seattle, Washington on February 18, 1932. He attended Clark College, Gonzaga University, and Portland State University. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army for 27 years and retired as a Lt Colonel. He then worked an additional 14 years for the Clark County Sheriff's Department.
Bill achieved the highest honor of Eagle Scout in the Sea Scout Organization and at age 12 began a lifelong hobby of collecting stamps. He loved classical music and sang with a beautiful tenor voice in school and church choirs. He was even in a barbershop quartet in college! He enjoyed traveling with Jackie and they ventured coast to coast many times to enjoy both oceans!
He was a faithful friend to many, who describe him as warm, smart, funny, generous, and kind. His hearty, infectious laugh filled a room!
Bill leaves a legacy of faith, hard work, and love to sons Brian Miller (wife Shawn) and Randy Miller (with Heidi); and daughter Lori Engelking (husband Ken). He was adored by his nine grandchildren and eight great-grand- children. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for January 10, 2017 at noon at Morning Star Community Church, 4775 27th Avenue SE, Salem, Oregon with a reception following. All are welcome!
