STEVEN R. TOMLINSON
July 4, 1954 ~ June 30, 2017
"Steven will be remembered as a hard-working,
incredibly generous man with a great sense of humor."
Steven R. Tomlinson, 62, of Camas, Washington passed away June 30, 2017 in Portland, Oregon. He was born July 4, 1954 in Spokane, Washington to Ray and Verla Tomlinson. Steven grew up and attended school in Spokane, graduating from Ferris High School in 1972. During his high school career, he was a prominent athlete and was very involved in school activities. He played football, basketball and ran track. At one point, Steven, was so determined to get his letter in track that, sick with serious pneumonia, he walked the 440 yard dash.
Following high school, he attended WSU, where he received his Master's degree in Pharmacy. Steven started his career as a pharmacist by moving his new family to Baker City, Oregon. After several years, he moved to Gresham, Oregon and then finally back to Washington. Over the years, Steven worked at Fred Meyer's, Safeway's and finally at Walgreen's as a pharmacy manager. He spent many years training Pharmacy Tech's and encouraging people to further their education.
Steven was a life-long member of WSU Alumni Association. He was a dedicated member of his "Ferris High School class of 72". In his younger days, he was an Eagle Scout and received the God and Country Award.
Steven enjoyed volunteering at the free clinic in Vancouver for over 30 years. Even though he was a workaholic, he did love to travel when he had time, but his absolute favorite thing was spending time with his parents, children and grandchildren.
Steven is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Luke) Mahoney of Saco, ME and Casey (Darral) Eason of Meridian, ID; parents, Ray and Verla Tomlinson of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Jack, Henry, Sidney and Zachary; sister, Nanette Knoell (Jerry) of Fayetteville, NC; and brothers, Stuart Tomlinson (Edra) of Maryland Heights, MO and Kris Tomlinson (Barbara) of Moses Lake, WA.
A celebration of Steven's life will be held, Saturday, July 22nd, 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane, WA. Reverend Barbara Caviezel of the Moran United Methodist Church will be officiating.

I wouldn't be where I am today if Steve hadn't believed in me, he helped me get my job back at Walgreens and promoted me to a pharmacy assistant, from there I became a tech. He would always message me and see how I was doing, he was a very thoughtful and kind man. Praying for your family during this difficult time.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Steve's death. He and my husband, Ed Hall, worked for Walgreen's together and enjoyed each other very much. When Ed passed away Steve made a habit of checking in with me from time to time to see how I was doing. It was very much appreciated. The world lost a good man.

When I picture Steve it's always with a smile on his face. He was always so kind and caring. We continued our friendship through Facebook. Where he always continued with this kind remarks to my postings or pictures. I am so sorry for your loss. He talked about his parents, his girls and his grandkids with much love. I am so sorry for your loss of your son, dad and grandfather. May God wrap you all in his arms during this difficult time and the days to come. Steve was a very dear friend of my brother's. He recently sent me a message asking how I was recovering after my surgery. It was so thoughtful of him. That was his character of thinking of others. He will be missed.
