Robert Watson Obituary

ROBERT "BOB" L. WATSON
February 10, 1948 ~ December 31, 2010
"Bob, you will never be forgotten, only missed."

Bob was born in Aberdeen, WA. He was a proud military veteran and retired locally in Vancouver, WA as a salesman in 2010.
Bob was a quiet and gentle man. His loved ones will always picture him in the kitchen helping with the cooking, especially at family gatherings or with friends singing karaoke. However Bob's favorite way to pass the time was to grab a fishing pole and head to the river. Rain or shine.
Bob is survived by his life partner, Lianne Retchless; her children, Melissa (Bobby), Nancy (Randy), and Robert; grandchildren, Austin and Bentley; brother, Dwayne McMillian.
At Bob's request, no service will be held.

Bob, I have been thinking about you alot lately, but especially today, like I do every year on this date. I couldn't send you a card this year and that made me sad. I will miss you as will so many others. We shared some great times and good laughs over the years. Today, your loved ones will set your spirit free with the spreading of your ashes. Go rest in peace and watch down on all of us. You are our guardian angel, with a little bit of devil mixed in. (I swear that I could just hear you chuckle). I love you and will think of you often.
And to my sister Lianne and the rest of my family, we must all cherish and find comfort in our memories of Bob. Please know that you are all in my heart and in my thoughts during this difficult time. I love you all very much. Debbie

Bob,

We were so blessed to have you a part of our family. I will always appreciate how you were there for Lianne and her children as they grew up and became adults. You were a good "Dad" and also the best grandpa. I loved the special relationship you had with Austin. I know he is missing you greatly. You will always be a part of the special occasion get together memories of the family. I think of you in the kitchen helping out and baking pies when needed. We love you and you will be greatly missed. Thank you for being you and may you rest in Peace.

Bob,

First, I need to say how much I love you and miss you. Thank you for being there for me during the most difficult time of a young woman's life. I know I was a challenge at times as any teenage girl can be, but thank you for always being supportive to me and non-judging. Thank you for always telling me how proud you were of me. Thank you for being that father to me when I needed one so badly.

I never thought of anyone else when I thought of who should walk me down the aisle and I am so happy that Bentley had time with her Papa Bob, no matter how brief. I am happy to have the memory of the smile on your face the first time she ran up to you, hugged you, and said I missed you Papa Bob! Its hurts to right now, but it is a memory I will always cherish.

I never got a chance to in life, but please know how much I wish I had called you dad because that's what you were to me. You were my Bob, you were my dad.

Love you always, miss you forever - - Your Daughter, Melissa

Lianne my deepest and heart felt wishes to you and your family, we will all miss Bob. The loss of your life partner can never be measured in time or tears, but in the smiles and joy that was shared by you both. That is marriage and a partnership at it's best, and what counts, not a piece of paper,

Uncle Bob will always live on in the hearts of all of us that loved him.
I am so grateful to him for being such a special part of the lives of people that I love very, very much.
He was a life companion for my Aunty Ann. He made her laugh and cry as only people that we truely love can do. He was there for her as a partner, friend and confidant, as she was for him. They shared life’s ups and downs and made it through as a team.
He was a father figure to my cousin’s (Melissa, Nancy and Robert) at a pivitol time in children’s lives, when having one around is so crucial and meaningful.
He walked my cousin Melissa down the isle and was so very proud to do so. I will never forget crying during their father/daughter dance at her beautiful wedding reception.
It meant a lot to me, as I could relate to the special and unique bond that is formed when a father chooses to love you and be there for you, even when you do not share blood.
As time went on Uncle Bob became a grandfather to Nancy’s son, Austin and then to Melissa’s daughter, Bentley- a role he did not take lightly. Bentley may be too young to remember Papa Bob, but Austin, I know shared a bond with him that he cherishes and will never let go.
Through story telling, memories and photographs his legacy and spirit will live on with us because we choose him, just as he chose us.
Love you Uncle Bob.
Rest in Peace.
“A Hui Ho”- Until we meet again.
