Robert Fisher Obituary

ROBERT HORACE HAMPTON FISHER
March 25, 1938 ~ August 21, 2017
"Robert Fisher never met a stranger in his life
and always loved to tell a story."

Robert Horace Hampton Fisher passed peacefully surrounded by family on August 21, 2017. He was born in Portland, Oregon, March 25, 1938 to Lois and Robert Fisher and grew up in Camas and Washougal, Washington. He had one sister, Eileen (deceased).
Robert married Claudine Wheeler in Washougal on July 7, 1958. They resided in Vancouver for the last fifty years where he and Claudine built a home, a family and a life.
He was truly a man of many talents. He served in the National Guard 1957-1963, was a mason and a member of the Bricklayers union for 51 years. He built the family home and barn where he enjoyed working on his farm, raising beef cows, gardening and woodworking.
A benevolent, big-hearted man, Robert took pleasure in taking people under his wing and mentoring them. He loved giving people nicknames and always had a saying handy to soothe or cheer a person's soul. Robert was generous with his time and always willing to help a neighbor. He was well loved and respected by everyone who knew him.
Robert was the true definition of a family patriarch and was extremely proud of his five daughters
and loved his family with all his heart.
Robert is survived by his wife, Claudine; daughters, Lois Osterman, (Harold), Tracy Fleischman, (Richard), Dolly Fisher-Bales, (Bill), and Monica Naddef, (Mike); ten grand-children ;and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Susan Fisher.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 1:00, Saturday, September 16th at the Powderpuff Ranch.
Remembrances can be made to Community Home Health & Hospice Vancouver/Longview.

It's difficult to put into words what kind of man you were. A strong dedicated family man. A man who worked his entire life to enrich those he loved. You represent to me a beacon for I aspire to be for my family the kind of man you were. Your graciousness is left unparalleled in my life and I will forever be grateful. As we talked the last time I came to visit I felt hopeful for you to have your wishes in the end. While knowing the usefulness of this vessel had come to the end your peace with the world should bring your family comfort. For few men have the opportunity to live life and have reaped the rewards that you had. Far fewer men depart yet still remain as present for so many when they are gone! You lived it your way old man! You left it better than you found and it was a pleasure and an honor to have known you.

Robert was one of my Dad's favorite neighbors for many years. My Dad, Marty Brosseau, always had "Bob Fisher" stories and frequently stated that "everyone should have a neighbor like Bob". RIP to the perfect neighbor.
