Michele Taie Obituary

MICHELE "SHELLY" ANN (HOUSTON) TAIE
June 18, 1967 ~ August 14, 2015

Michele Ann was born June 18, 1967 in Albany, Oregon to her parents, the late Robert (1926-2007) and Eileen Houston. She was the youngest of seven children.
She was an avid runner, valued healthy living, and enjoyed people and life to the fullest.
She worked as a labor and delivery nurse for eighteen years at Peace Health Southwest in Vancouver, Washington. She will be remembered by her patients as the nurse that went the extra mile to make sure the delivery of their baby was a beautiful experience.
Shelly courageously and inspirationally fought a glioblastoma for the past eighteen months and peacefully passed away on August 14th in her home in Camas, WA surrounded by loved ones.
Shelly's loving spirit lives on in her three children: Hayden, Houston, and Hannah, whom were her greatest joy and motivation. She also leaves behind her fiancé, Ed Goon, who loved and admired her for "just the way she was." Together with her family and friends, they selflessly and tenderly cared for her the past year and a half.
A service will be will be held at Liberty Bible Church on Friday, August 21st at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in support of the Brain Tumor Research at UW Medicine, Box 358045, Seattle, WA 98195 or you may make a gift online at www.supportuwmedicine.org. Please indicate the gift is in memory of Michele "Shelly" Taie.

Shelly and I ran cross-country and track together in high school. She was someone that we all looked up to. So pretty, smart, accepting and fun to be around.

I had to laugh today when the reference to your love of playing with ears came up during your service. That was the first thing you did when you met my grandkids for the first time, play with both their ears. And Ashton our eldest grandchild does the same thing! She loves to play with everyone's ears. Now whenever she grabs mine, I'll think of you Shelly belly.

You will always be remembered for your smile and being a friend to everyone. The class of 1985 will forever miss you but we know we will all see each other again someday. Keep the smiles going wherever you may be. :) Lisa

Shelly became friends with our family when she and then new husband, Darren, moved in across the street. She was so young and full of fun- we all loved her! We loved hearing her exclaim "No way!" often in our conversations. Shelly and I discovered we even shared the same birthday. Hayden and Houston were born while they lived there, and our girls loved those little boys.
We were very sad when they moved away before Hannah was born, and we eventually lost touch.
I was shocked and deeply saddened to see Shelly has passed away at such a young age. My girls and I are happy to say we knew her and we will cherish all the memories we have of her.

Shelly fed off the energy of people (sleep was optional). She was the life of any party from our days at Oregon State on-ward. Her kids meant everything and what a joyride and honor it was to raise our three beautiful children together. They each carry a portion of her spirit and love. Forever in our memory.

Shelly, You always lived life with the sprit of laughter and the amazing love of people. There wasn't a stranger you ever met or a child you wouldn't welcome into your home or your pantry "oh the snacks they would find" and if they were lucky enough to be there on a Friday wow "Friday Surprise" a plus!

Thank you for the fun times and the support you gave to our Juventus Team - You will forever be in all of our hearts!

Another bright star in the heavens will shine even brighter on a grieving family. May God's promise of everlasting life be a comfort to each of you, knowing that one day you will be together again. God Bless.

We had the pleasure of meeting Shelly and her sister Rhonda outside a local restaurant where her son Houston works. We "adopted" Houston as our grandson some time ago and learned of Shelly's illness through him. We are deeply sorry we didn't get to know her better but her kind and loving nature has most certainly been instilled in her children. I know how difficult these days have been and will continue to be for some time, but I encourage her family to trust in our God for comfort and to live in the knowledge that they will be with her in Heaven one day...happy and free of any pain or sickness. God Bless you all and you will be in our prayers. With love and sadness, Vic & Leah Townsend

To Shelly's children and family. I didn't know your mom well but my son Bryce always had so much fun at her house in high school with the Friday Surprise's she held for the kids. She would have them over and bake something yummy. She also hosted us for pre prom pictures. Always very sweet and inviting. May her beautiful spirit remain with you all. Fly with the angels sweet lady.

I had the pleasure of getting to Shelly while playing indoor soccer. I loved her enthusiasm, kind soul and spirit. She was so proud of her children. She always had a smile, a kind word and time to ask how you were doing. She will be missed. I cannot imagine the loss you all are feeling, and I pray that the Lord keeps you all near and comforts you during these difficult times.
