MELDA FERN HAGENSEN
November 15, 1926 ~ January 24, 2011
Melda F. Hagensen, age 84, passed away January 24, 2011 at home in Vancouver, WA. She was born November 15, 1926 in North Platte, NE. She later moved to Washougal, WA where she graduated from high school.
Melda worked at Crown Zellerbach before marrying Roy Hagensen in 1949. They made their home on their dairy farm in Fern Prairie and Melda drove bus for the berry pickers during the summer. She settled as a homemaker, helping Roy on the dairy farm.
Melda enjoyed doing crafts like knitting and quilting and was a member of the St. Andrews Quilters. She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Orchards.
Melda is survived by her sons, Richard (Ruthanne) of Mountain Home, ID, David (Pat) of Fern Prairie, WA, Terry of Fargo, ND, and Paul (Monica) of Fern Prairie; daughter, Becky (Gary) Stauffer of Washougal; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy in 2007.
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 29 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Orchards. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Camas Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 5607 NE Gher Rd., Vancouver, WA 98662.
