LUELLA LEONA SHELSTAD
March 20, 1918 ~ December 27, 2016
Luella "Lu" Leona Shelstad, passed away on December 27, 2016 at the age of 98 in Vancouver, WA. She was born on March 20, 1918 in Eau Claire, WI, the daughter of William and Mabel Latshaw.
Luella moved to Austin, MN where she met her future husband of 65 years, Arnold Shelstad. Together, they moved west and made Vancouver, WA their home in 1949.
Luella worked for the Jantzen Knitting Mills, the Vancouver School District and Clark County Election Office, but her real passion in life was her love of family and friends. With a kind heart, she was always willing to help anyone no matter what their need. She especially loved spending time knitting, sewing, cooking and playing an occasional game of bingo.
Luella is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Shelstad. She is survived by daughters, Norma Darr and Karen Claybin of Vancouver, WA and son Jerry Shelstad of Gilbert, AZ. She has five grandchildren, Craig Darr, Kristi Ramajo, Courtney Claybin, and Tonya and Amanda Shelstad. Great-grandchildren are River Ramajo, Caden Horn and Kennedy Himes.
Services will be held Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. 1101 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver, WA 98684.
