GORDON RAY PETERS
October 4, 1948 ~ February 14, 2017
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Gordon Ray Peters, a beloved husband, father, and grandpa. Gordon was diagnosed with Renal Cancer in October 2016. He fought a valiant battle but the Lord needed him so He called him home on February 14, 2017. Gordon was born in Lynch, NE on Oct. 4, 1948 and lived his early years near Verdel, NE with his parents on the farm. He moved to Vancouver, WA when he was 9 years old and loved playing baseball, golf, and numerous sports. He graduated from Fort Vancouver and went to Clark College and University of Portland for his college career. He first met his wife Gaylene at a family gathering in his family home in 1966; they went on to date, getting engaged in 1969 on his folks' anniversary. They were married on June 6, 1970 and resided their whole married life in Vancouver. They raised 3 children who all live nearby with their families. Gordon worked at a number of jobs before settling on working for the City of Vancouver in 1981 until his retirement in April 2012. Gordon had 2 hobbies that he spent numerous hours enjoying, fishing and especially hunting: pheasant, deer, and elk. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gaylene; sister, Shelly; children, Alyssa and Greg Peter, Andrya and Jay Sauers and Kyle and Lindsay Peters; grandchildren, Trinity, Bianca, Colton and Cheyanne; mother and father-in-law, Gay and Bertie Hull; plus numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Gordy was a beautiful friend and a great listener. He was a wonderful husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He will be sorely missed because he took up great space in the hearts of his family. If you wish to remember him, do so with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you; in this way, Gordon will live forever. Gordon's memorial will be held in the Chapel at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, February 26 at 3 PM. Reception will follow, all family and friends welcome.

Dear family and friends of Gordon, allow memories of your dear loved one to warm your hearts, 2nd Thessalonians 3:16 "Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace constantly in every way. May the Lord be with all of you." As you return to life's daily routine, may you continue to receive comfort and support from loved ones.

I was so saddened to hear that Gordon was ill, and even more so to hear that he had passed. I worked with Gordon for about 10 years & absolutely adored him. I loved listening to his stories about hunting, Nebraska & seeing his face light up every time he talked about his family, especially Gaylene. If I could have adopted him as a dad, I would have done it in a split second...He will be truly missed.

To the families of Gordon Peters, I am so sorry for your loss and Gordon will be missed very much. I see his bright smile each time I think of him. Gordon and I used to play together when his Grand mom and Granddad ran the Niobrara State Park. I'm sure we must have caused much mischief for them, but we had fun. God bless you!
