Not sure what to say?

I miss you my friend. As you are flying in the sky with angles, I hope they have removed all the fences for a nice landing for you my friend. God Bless You & your Family.

I just heard about this from his former partner in Dallas. The memories of the few times Doug trained me started pouring in. Doug would just stand back and fold his arms and let me make the mistakes. I would look back and he would have this grin on his face and shake his head. I had great respect for him and he taught me well. Rest now Doug rest.

Doug worked with my husband, Paul, up here in Vancouver. We had a lot of things in common; raised in Salt Lake, worked as a cop in Texas, and moved to Vancouver. Through all of his trials and challenges in life, Doug kept his sense of humor. He was a devoted father who adored his kids. I cannot begin to express my gratitude and appreciation for everytime he was there to backup Paul on a call. He will be very missed around here. My heartfelt prayers go out to his family. You raised a wonderful man. I pray you find the comfort you need to get you through this difficult time. God bless you.

Dear Brigette,

I am not sure if you remember me....we worked together at Mad Man Maggee's in Utah (at that time my last name was Barbour). I also remember attending your Wedding to Doug, it was beautiful. So, it is with much sadness that it took this situation to touch base with you once again.

Please accept my deepest sympathy and know you and your dear family are in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.

To the Deavers; i fondly remember my time with Debbie, Barb, and Rosemary while I was a member of Bethel 13 Job's Daughters. I didn't know you also had two brothers. I am saddened to learn of your brother, Douglas', passing. He was a hero and servant to the people and for that he has my undying gratitude. I lived in Dallas while he served there. All the Deavers are in my thoughts and prayers.

Even though a light has been blown out, the light of others will grow brighter because you cared. The lives you have touched around you will ripple like a drop of water on a still lake. No mans work goes unnoticed. Your kindness, warmth, gregarious laughter will be heard every time someone mentions your name. It will bring a smile to their face, a tear to their eyes, and an aching in their heart, for they will wish they had more time with you. May the sun be basking in your face, the wind at your back, as you soar over the mountains in eternal flight.

Dear Deaver Family,

I have been reflecting on the memories from the past with Doug and there are many. He was my first business partner at D&L Lawn Care (Deaver & Longson). We would tell clients that we could do anything they needed and then when they would asked us to prune tree's or trim bushes we would read a little bit and then just "wing it". I can't believe how brave we were. I remember loving the sleepovers at your house the night before a big fishing trip. Helen would always have breakfast ready for us and Jay would be making sure we had everything in the boat. I will always cherish those memories with your family and Doug, they are priceless to me!

Our hearts go out to all of Doug's family. We our truly sorry for the loss of such a wonderful person. He will remain in our hearts forever!

With Much Love,

Jeff and Colette Longson

At times like these it seems words are never enough. You and your family are a part of our extended family. And though your physical presence is no longer with us, the fun times together, this last Christmas eve, will stay in our hearts and minds forever. You watched over us in your work as a Vancouver Police Officer, doing your best to keep your family and our community safe. And I know in my heart you are still watching over us, especially your family whom you loved so much and who love you. You are missed dearly.

When I was growing up in Holladay, the Deavers lived right across the street from my family. Doug happened to be one of the youngest of the neighborhood kids and liked to get into mischief. At every possible moment, our families spent many wonderful times boating, water skiing, and generally having a good time. The last time I saw Doug was at his mother's 80th birthday party. Fortunately, it was also a family reunion and he was surrounded by all those who loved him. Last week, I was shocked to learn of Doug's passing. He leaves behind a space in my heart and in the many people who cherished his presence. He will be sorely missed! Doug, may you rest in peace and may your memory be eternal.

Dear Deaver Family,
I don’t know how well you remember us but we lived next door on Wyoming Street in Salt Lake City. I remember many good times with you guys and how sad our family was when you moved to Holliday. My brother Brad and his family later moved to your neighborhood on 4500 South. I am so happy to see that you all have become quite an extended family. I am so sorry to hear about Doug’s passing. He is leaving a great legacy of family and he seems to have had a full and energetic life, filled with service. I am proud to have known him and the whole Deaver family. I know that we all live on in the memories of people that have touched us and that we have touched and that further than that, we live on in our eternal progression. Doug will be there for us to meet again when it is time for us to pass through the veil and be with him again. My love goes with you.

Never in my wildest dreams could I have seen this day coming! Your time in this world was just too short - I was not finished having fun with you, hugging you and spending time together with our family! I love you, I always will my dear brother! Know that you are a spiritual being and as such, you do not die! You are immortal and you are a great, loving and caring being! Continue on and know I am here for you!

Very few times have I had the opportunity to have the friendship with someone as great as Doug. The memories of playing sports together through high school, fishing, skiing, attending Salt Lake Golden Eagles hockey games, or just the countless times hanging out, are still vivid and priceless memories of mine. I will never forget your contagious laugh that my mom describes as "consuming his entire body". I pray for the entire Deaver family knowing we have a compassionate and loving Heavenly Father.

Years ago Jeff rigged up your fishing pole wrong while we were at Strawberry by putting on your pop-gear backwards. I don't think you ever let anyone rig your pole for you again and I am assuming that will not change now. You are greatly missed and always will be Doug! We love you and your family!
