CAROLINE JEAN (KENNEDY) VOORHEES
May 24, 1949 ~ April 11, 2011
"She was kind, compassionate,
loving and selfless in service to others."
Caroline Jean (Kennedy) Voorhees of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2011. Jean was born May 24, 1949 in Vancouver, WA to Marion and Dorothy Kennedy. She was a dairy family daughter and retained her love of animals her entire life, going out of her way to care for strays. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1967 and attended Clark College and Washington State University.
Jean resided in the Pacific Northwest most of her life and worked in several occupations, but primarily as a bookkeeper.
Jeannie was the laughter, the light and jokester of the family. She brightened every family gathering with her unconditional love and tireless efforts to cheer, encourage and tease everyone. She invested innumerable hours of care for her immediate family members helping them with any and all tasks that needed her expertise or elbow grease. And she did it all with a spirit of love and grace.
Her family will long feel a large empty hole where her physical presence has been, but her boisterous, infectious laughter and teasing ways will be remembered with great fondness and appreciation for all that she contributed to our lives.
Jean leaves behind her husband of 24 years, Jesse Voorhees; stepdaughter, Michelle Connolly; Michelle's two sons, Steven and Morgan; her mother, Dorothy Kennedy; two sisters, Anne Schultz (David Schultz) and Chris Watters (Mike Watters); sister/brother-in-law, Susan and Ralph Gibbs; special aunts, Welles Pederson and Jane Kennedy; seven nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many, many friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life memorial service held Sat., April 16, 2011 at Red Lion Jantzen Beach at 3:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Vancouver, WA or to Hospice of Southwest Washington.

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.” Washington Irving
