I was an automotive student of Bob's at Battle Ground High school in 1985 and 1986. I have so many memories and life skills that I use today thanks to him. He was Mr. Lassley as I knew him then.
I remember Fridays being dohnut day. When he would buy dohnuts for the entire class. Friday after Friday.
He told many stories in class of his life experiences. Many of which I remember today.
He was a role model for all his students and was one to ask if anyone needed advice.
I remember him always staying after class and working with us on our own cars, or to help finish up a customers car.
He invited myself and another student to his home once to see his motorcycles he talked about in class. He had a great love for motorcycles! And always talked about motorcycle racing. I remember him saying once, Anyone can drive a car! Just try racing a motorcycle! I will always remember him saying that!
I remember little about other classes or teachers during my high school days. But Bob and a couple other Vocational Teachers have instilled life long memories and values in me. I am very thankful to of had Bob for an instructor. As he gave us more than automotive knowledge. He taught us how to become successful and respectful adults.
Times have changed since I was in school. And teachers like Bob are rare and far between. I only hope my kids who attend BGHS today will have a teacher that relates to them and gives life long skills like Bob did for me.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
RIP Bob. And good luck on your journey above.

How many wonderful memories I have of uncle Bob and aunt Julia. How many times they took care of me through the years. First I want to say thank you and I love you. I just read this in the paper. I'm sorry it wasn't in time to be there but our hearts and our prayers are with your family. I love you all.
