DARLENE M. (OAKLUND) CHAPPELL
August 15, 1922 ˜ December 2, 2018
Darlene, born in McCook NE, to Ralph L. and Dorothy E. Kloche McKillip, peacefully passed away in Vancouver, WA. She attended school in McCook, until she moved with family to Nampa, ID, where she graduated from high school in 1939.
Darlene married Ralph Oaklund on April 15, 1941 in Walla Walla, WA, where they happily raised their 2 daughters, before Ralph passed away in 1978.
She married Glenn Chappell in 1982, and they made their home in Nampa, ID for 21 years. After Glenn passed away in 2003, Darlene moved to Vancouver, WA to be close to family.
Her enjoyment of life, interest in others and steadfast determination to keep going contributed to her long, healthy life, 96 years.
Darlene is survived by 2 daughters, Winifred Weber and Patricia (spouse Henry) Jacobs, of Vancouver; and many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and all 6 of her younger siblings.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019, 11a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 S. Andresen Rd., Vancouver, WA 98661. A graveside service will be held in Walla Walla in late April.
