CORINNE JUNE (JANIKOWSKI) ROUTTU
January 22, 1925 ~ October 7, 2016
Corinne June Routtu, 91, of Vancouver, WA, passed away Oct. 7, 2016. She was born to Anton Vincent and Mary Alice (Owen) Janikowski on Jan. 22, 1925, in Portland, OR.
Corinne married Albert A. R. Routtu on Sept. 6, 1947, in Vancouver.
After earning a Nursing degree from the University of Washington, she worked as a Registered Nurse for the Seattle-King County Health Department. After Albert finished his degree, they moved to Vancouver, where Corinne was a Surgical Nurse at Vancouver Memorial Hospital and, after her children were almost grown, an Occupational Health Nurse at BPA.
Corinne traveled extensively-with husband Albert and later with long-time companion Jack-from China to Iceland, to the Galapagos Islands, Australia, and beyond. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and attending aquacise three times a week.
Following in her mother's footsteps, Corinne became a member of St. Luke's Altar Guild. She was devoted to gardening: Those walking and driving by her corner property took pleasure from the beautiful flowering gardens she loved and tended-calling her "the flower lady." But, most of all, Corinne treasured spending time with her extensive family and friends.
Survivors include daughter, Cynthia; son, David (Laura); and Jack Jones (companion).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sat., Oct. 29, 2016, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 426 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98663.
Remembrances suggested: Doernbecher Children's Hospital or St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
The family extends its gratitude to the staff of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.

Dear Cindy,
Sending love to you as you remember your mom. She had to be a big part of your knowing how to make curry and sew so beautifully at such a young age. I was so impressed with you. Love and prayers, Bev Farmer (your Jason Lee PE teacher)
