Memories and Condolences
for Robert Peck

Not sure what to say?

Bob Peck rented our upstairs room and bath in my grandmother's house in Battle Ground, WA when he was first hired to work at BG High School. He was energized to go to work and was the first person I ever knew as a kid who traveled to Europe, took slide photos, and showed them in our living room when he got back.

It was a revelation for a small town kid like me to see some of the great art and architecture of famous Old World cities and sparked my love of history and travel.

His kind remembrances every Christmas to our family and continued visits to my grandmother years after he'd married and was raising his own talented family with equally talented wife Nancy are cherished memories. Thank you Bob for the many kindnesses.

We enjoyed Bob's company on several levels, North County Camera Club, and his calendars always hang in our home. He always greeted us with a smile! Condolences to all his family. Janet and Jim Cottingham

Bob Peck was a lovely man. My mother, Marie Thorland(Jacobson) was very fond of him and enjoyed his sense of humor. He will be missed.

Dear Peck Family: Mr. Peck was my art teacher at BGHS in the mid 1950s. Not sure which was more fun Mr. Peck or the class. He was also a great class counselor. He took the time to listen, sometimes to tell us to rethink what we just suggested, but always patient.

He will be missed by many.

When I served as public information officer for Battle Ground Public Schools, October 2008 to November 2013, I had multiple occasions to deal with Bob Peck. I always felt I was richer for having done so. A retired art teacher, Bob was one of the instigators of the annual all-district student art show long before he retired. He continued making it happen -- as a volunteer -- long after retiring . He also donated his services as an excellent calligrapher, printing the names of citizens on certificates of appreciation and such. But most of all, I remember Bob for his positive and welcoming spirit. He was a genuinely lovely man, always happy to see friends and inquire how things were going with them, etc. My thoughts are with daughter Allison and the rest of the family. -- Gregg Herrington

Sorry for your loss. Bob was a wonderful man. I enjoyed working with him at BGHS and running into him at the fair.

I taught with Bob at BGHS in the '70s. I took an adult calligraphy class from him and he was sooo patient with me as I tried to learn. I will always remember his smile and twinkle in his eyes and his love for art.
