THOMAS HUTCHESON Obituary

THOMAS LEE HUTCHESON
October 13, 1944 ~ December 27, 2012

Thomas Hutcheson was born in Vancouver, WA on Oct. 13, 1944 to Robert and Ruby Hutcheson. He passed away on Dec. 27, 2012 at 68 years old after a brief but valiant fight with Prostate cancer. Tom was raised on a farm in the Hockinson area and enjoyed outdoor activities spending his summers fishing and hunting and forging lifelong friendships with many of his Battle Ground High School classmates.
After school, Tom worked briefly in the logging industry before enlisting in the Army and was sent overseas to fight in the Vietnam War. After serving three years, he returned to Vancouver and met the love of his life, Pam King, while he was working at the Moose Lodge bartending. They dated only a few months before they were married on August 17, 1968.
In 1975, their first child, Jason, was born followed by their daughter, Nikki, in 1979.
Tom worked for many years as a general contractor, framing new construction homes in the 70's and early 80's. He later worked remodeling homes.
Tom enjoyed spending time with his friends at the VFW post 7824 where he was a life member, and sharing a good drink and cigars at Shanahan's Pub. He especially enjoyed reading western books and watching western movies. He also liked to share his advice on the stock market to anyone who would listen and stayed current on political events.
He will be missed tremendously by his wife of 44 years, Pam; son, Jason Hutcheson; daughter, Nikki McMahon; sisters, Irene Lyon, De Geiser, Marolyn Carr and Debbie Brewer; two granddaughters, Bailee McMahon and Autumn McMahon, and a grandchild on the way; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and big brother, Frank Ford.
There will be a memorial service for Tom at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Sun., Jan. 6, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. Afterwards, there will be a Celebration of Life at the VFW 400 N. Andresen Road.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Southwest Washington.
In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the VFW Post 7824 in Tom's name.

Not sure what to say?

Tom,

It has been 5 years since your passing and even though I never had the opportunity to meet you, I know you were a pretty special man. Over the past four plus years, I have had the chance to become a part of your family. And knowing your family like I do now, I know you are very missed. I know your son Jason has a lot of your traits, and that you would be very proud of him. I wish I would have been able to meet you. I hear all the time how similar you are to my dad, and I bet you two would have been great friends. Anyway, even though you aren't here in the physical world, you are missed deeply, and your family continues to think/talk about you. I hope you are king of the road up there!

Love,
Abby

There is a gift, oh so elusive,
That can be yours & mine.
The Giver gives to all who ask it,
but we must ask in time.
We must be willing to accept,
our will...and His align.
He calls us out to answer Him,
a choice we make of mind.
His gift is peace of broken heart,
a gift from no mankind.
He offers it for your life today,
for loss we all will find.....
Uncle Tom, you were deeply loved, but not just by those here on this Earth. Peace is yours.

Dearest Pam Very Sorry to here about Tom.. many years have passed.. But their is one thing I do remember about Tom.. Is how much he loved you ,and how devoted he was to you. It was really heart warming to see .. This big strong guy turn into a puppy around his Pam... i loved that Tom gave 110% to his family ,and his work ethic , so strong.. I just know that Tom is - just above you ,and the kids ,making sure all-well.. and Pam I wish for you to be surrounded with his warmth ,and never ending love for you.. To have peace in your heart, that it will just seem like a moment, that you were apart, and when you meet again , it will be for all of eternity... and all the travels that were cut short on this earth..Will be so much more .. just think you will have the whole Universe to explore!! old friend and Neighbor Diane Fouts { Cecils } daughter ,and family .. I remember the advise that Tom gave me regarding the stock market and took it. I check my stock today and the international stock went way up. Thank you so much Tom for the advise. We will all miss your smiling face at the VFW. Our love goes out to Pam and the family.

I don't know what to say Tom, you took us by suprise. The last time you where up you wrote your and Pams phone number down for us. I ran across it about 2 weeks ago and I was going to call but didn't. You and Pam have been such great friends to us When we moved Tom stepped up and said when and he showed up with his truck and trailer and help us get it done. When Jackie was in the hospital Tom and Pam opened their home to us. How does anyone replace a friendship like that? We will miss you Tom!!! Dale & Jackie

Prayers to the whole Hutcheson Family. I fondly remember Tom and my dad cheering us on in soccer games, and while running as Nikki and I were growing up. I still can see his smile all these years later. Thinking of you all.

To my special guy, best friend, lover, companion. I will miss snuggling on the couch with you. I will miss holding your hand. I will miss hearing "I love you." I will miss going out to lunch with you and to the VFW? I will miss going with you to our property in Wauconda, WA? There is so much we didn't get to do that we had planned to do. You never gave up and you were brave to the very end. I need your strength right now so if you could send some my way I would appreciate it. You had always said "it's you and me kid." You are right it will always be you and me kid. I will love you forever. Your loving wife - Pam
