JOAN CECELIA ANDRING
June 28, 1947 ~ July 18, 2018
"Joan will be missed by many and remembered as
the nicest person most of us will ever meet."
On July 18, 2018, Joan Cecelia Andring died after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. She was born to James and Margaret Fegel on June 28, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas. After a brief move to Portland, Oregon, she was back in Kansas where she graduated from Haviland High School. Back in Portland again, Joan graduated from Portland State with a degree in Business and Accounting.
She entered the Peace Corps and left to become a congressional staffer to work on anti-war legislation. Joan worked for, among others, Senator Hatfield. She also worked on numerous pieces of environmental legislation and was proud of her roll in making the environment a priority. After congress she worked for many years as an accountant, mostly in research.
In 2004, Joan married Dale Andring and they traveled extensively, which she loved. In 2007, she went on the adventure of a lifetime with two long trips to Kazakhstan to adopt her daughter Nadia. It gave her the proud title of Mother. A term that made her glow. She loved the beach, hiking, travelling and reading.
Joan is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Nadia; sisters, Tess and Janet; and brothers, Greg and Jim.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steve; and sister, Rose.
Joan will be interred in a private ceremony at Willamette National Cemetery. There will be a memorial mass at St. Peters Catholic Church in Portland, OR on September 19, 2018. A life celebration will also be in September, please contact Dale or Nadia for information.

We're all heartbroken, but I'm thankful to have so many smiles and hugs to remember. I'll always love you, Cece! You're off on your biggest travel adventure yet, and I miss you already! <3

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one is never easy. May God's comforting promise of the time when we will welcome the return of our loved ones back to us ease your pain. John 6:40.
