Donna Heimbuch Obituary

DONNA D. HEIMBUCH
May 11, 1931 ~ March 21, 2015

Donna (Waddle) Heimbuch was born in Langford, SD to Ray and Bernadine Waddle. She passed peacefully to our Savior's arms surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Karl Heimbuch; children, Joyce (Monte) Hanes, Richard Heimbuch and Russel Heimbuch, all of Vancouver, WA; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Klattenhoff (Gene Ferryman) of Vancouver and Pat (Norm) Ploium of Ocean Park, WA; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Donna moved with her family to Vancouver at age 11 and enjoyed getting together with her Salmon Creek girlfriends until her passing. She graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1949. Since retiring from the Columbian in 1993, she appreciated her morning "mall walker" friends.

"Grandma Donna" as she was lovingly known at New Hope Foursquare Church, faithfully taught Sunday School over 65 years!

A memorial service will be held at 11a.m., Sat., March 28, 2015 at New Hope Foursquare Church, 1801 Daniels in Vancouver.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver.

My memories of Donna go back to the early day's at Salmon Creek. In the summer Donna and I rode our bicycles morning noon and night. If one of the bikes broke down we would ride on the same one until her Dad did some repairs. When we rode double one would sit on the seat and the other would peddle. When I look back on it I think Donna relaxed on the seat far more then I did. She was a great friend and I will miss her.

Donna taught Sunday School to our children for many years, and led at least one of them to the Lord. We will always be grateful for her faithful service.

Donna had such a gift to welcome and love all the children. When we started attending New Hope 29 yrs ago, our 2 yr old did not like nurseries, but loved structured classes. Donna was gracious and loving and took her into her 4 yr olds class where she loved hearing the Sunday School lesson, singing songs and doing a craft. Donna was the most amazing woman, and was always amazed at learning anything new. She showed interest in whomever she conversed with and made them feel listened to and loved. And humor! Oh my word - what a sense of humor. I never spoke with her but what I ended up laughing. She left this world with every bit of her sharpness intact and blessing others with her kindness. Joyce, Karl, Luke and all the rest of the family - May the comfort of knowing she is with her dear Jesus; having all the wonderful memories of Donna's love and life bring peace to your hearts. Your loss will be felt deeply, your tears frequent, your smiles big in moments of remembering her happy face, and the promise of eternity strong. What a blessing she has been and will forever continue to be.

Grandma Donna was one of th most special and kind souls I have ever met in this life. She was constant and adamant and forever desiring good for everyone in her life. I have so many special moments with her where her words spurred me to action and helped me have confidence in who I am and who I have been made to be. All that while being really sassy, which is just the best. Love you Donna! Love and Peace to the beautiful family she has made! All my best to Karl who was her match!

When I think of Donna Heimbuch, I feel the warmth of her tight hugs and big kisses on my cheeks, leaving bright red lipstick as a stamp. She was always so authentic and caring and remembered details about people. I always walked away from a conversation with her encouraged and loved. She was not only my Sunday school teacher who helped lay an early foundation of Christ in my life, but she was my friend and sister in the Lord. I love you Donna.......May peace fill your heart, Karl and family, as you think of Donna FINALLY with Jesus! She's home! Xox

When I think of Donna her many gifts come to mind - loving, caring, a great example in her walk and talk, faithful, kind, generous, she expressed all the fruits of the spirit in her life. Once again I am reminded how fragile life can be. She loved her grandchildren and great grands. It was amazing how she was there to help out. An amazing example. Many fond memories. She will be missed.
