Okey ’Pat’ Monroe Hamrick, Jr., 73, of Battle Ground, WA, peacefully passed away on December 16th, 2018 of lung cancer.
He was the son of Okey and Elva (Lawler) Hamrick and grew up in Woodland, WA.
Okey was a Vietnam Veteran and honorably served in the Navy SeaBees.
After returning from Vietnam he met and married Cheryl Carter in 1967 and had three children.

His hobbies included welding and hunting; but his greatest love was fishing. If the fish were running, he was on the water.

Not sure what to say?

We have scheduled Okey's memorial to be held on Saturday February 23rd at 1pm east of Woodland, WA at the Lewis River Golf Course Lodge overlooking his beloved Lewis River. Due to winter weather, the entire memorial with military honors will be held indoors. There will be catered snacks and drinks after.
After the memorial gathering, everyone is welcome to attend the interment at the Frank Abel Cemetery located just two miles east of the golf course. Due to potential weather we will understand if you choose not to attend graveside.
We will be putting a formal memorial announcement in the paper in the next few weeks.

Cheryl,
Was so saddened to read of Pat's passing in the paper Sunday. I never had the occasion to meet him, but my heart goes out to you in this difficult
time. I will have you and your family in my prayers and may God give you strength, wonderful memories and a spiritual hug. Think of you often and especially when I look at the hand painted Christmas cards I have framed and hanging on my wall. I still love you, Cheryl.

Rest easy, my friend. Even though I didn't know you very long, you have made a big impact on my life. I hope the fishing/crabbing/hunting is great in heaven. I'll be sure to name at least one of my new spinner designs "The Okey Special"

Okey, my man, quite a guy!! Have some good memories of you and your down to earth attitude splashed with humor.Worked with Okey at Union Carbide in Washougal for many years, he learned to weld exotic metals (Platinum Iridium) and picked it up real quick, it was difficult but Okey mastered the skill rather quickly. Okey was always ready for any task or challenge thrown at him, and boy could he grin, loved that sheepish grin. I recall interviewing you with your future boss Frank Nething back in 1978-79, your interview was impressive, and you put in quite a few years at Carbide. Bowling in a league at Riverside Bowl with other UCC employees once a week, was always a ball. When I moved to Washington for our new plant start up in 78, you were the first person to take me and Paul Whipple salmon fishing, loved it! I'll pray for you and your family and hope to remember you often with the fond memories of a friend and good man, be well.

Okey, missed your smiling face and warm hugs. Did not see you this year when I was back there for a visit but maybe you were too sick to drop by.

You are now in a better place with no pain or sorrow. God bless you.

Prayers for Okey's family and loved ones. He was an exceptional man.
