ELEANOR "NAN" ANN BAIRD
October 24, 1926 ~ March 26, 2016
Eleanor "Nan" Ann Baird, 89, wife of the late Earle O. Baird, of Vancouver, WA, passed away at her home on Sat., March 26, 2016. She was born in Sioux City, IA on Oct. 24, 1926, the daughter of the late Arthur Christian Nelson and Adelaide Connell Nelson.
Nan graduated from East High and attended Morningside College in Sioux City, IA.
Upon her marriage to Earle on Sept. 6, 1947, they relocated to Vancouver, WA.
Nan was employed for many years by the Vancouver School District, serving as an instructional aide at Hazel Dell Elementary.
Upon her retirement, she continued to work with students through the H.O.S.T program. She was also an active volunteer for the democratic party on the local and state level.
Nan is survived by daughters, Cathy Baird of Seattle, WA, Christy Yount and husband Mike of Washougal, WA, Nancy Wenzel and husband Jim of Richmond, TX; son, Kirby Baird and wife Sammie of Austin, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as her loving companion, Robert McDonald, of Vancouver, WA.
In addition to her husband Earle, Nan was preceded in death by her brother, Jerauld Nelson.
A memorial service will be held at 11a.m., Thurs., March 31 at Cascades Presbyterian Church.
The family is very grateful and appreciative for the compassionate care given by Hospice.
As a passionate and life long reader, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation.

Nan was such an up-right, caring & involved lady & a friend. I pray your grief is softened by the knowledge that your Mother is at peace. She deeply loved you all .

Nancy and family,
I am sorry to learn of your mother's passing. I remember Nan as an uptown woman who had spirit and passion. Please know that Iam praying for all and may your many memories bring you comfort. I help out a couple on Thursdays and am unable to make the services today.
