NEIL MATTHEW BRISLAWN SR.
October 17, 1954 ~ August 21, 2018
Neil Matthew Brislawn Sr. of Vancouver, Washington, passed away suddenly on August 21, 2018 at the age of 63.
Neil was born to Jerome and Joyce Brislawn on October 17, 1954. He lived in Vancouver for his whole life, attending Our Lady of Lourdes, Shumway Middle School, graduating from Hudson's Bay High School in 1973, and pursued Engineering and Design classes at Clark and Portland Community College. Neil worked as a International Sales Engineer at Columbia Machine for 8 years, and as a Sales Manager at Precision Equipment Inc. for approximately 35 years. Neil spent all of his years keeping his passion for hot rods and classic cars alive through building and driving his well-known 1936 Ford Coupe, as a part of the Slo Poks Car Club. In his free time, Neil enjoyed music and singing, helping out wherever he could, and most enjoyed teaching his one son (Neil Jr.) everything that he now knows about cars today. Neil Sr. was known to be funny, outgoing, kind, and loving to all that he talked to and met.
Neil is survived by his wife, Suyapa Morataya-Brislawn; sister, Janet Harris (Todd); and brother, Mark Brislawn (Julie). He is also survived by his children: Kimi, (twins) Clarissa and Ellie and (twins) Neil Jr. and Kendra.
His funeral service will be held this Saturday, September 1st, at 10a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, followed by a reception in the gymnasium. Burial will be held at approximately 1:30p.m. at Mother Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions can be made to the college fund for Neil Jr. and Kendra at Umpqua Bank in care of Suyapa Morataya-Brislawn.

Very sad to hear the news of Neil passing. I would see him every year at the cruise in Vancouver and elsewhere in town. The last I saw him and his family, his had recently finished building his truck, we at Subway on main street. I'm glad and happy to have known him through high school and after. My thoughts go out to his family.

Dear Neil, I'm one of the lucky ones, Ive had the privilege of knowing you since I was 10 years old. I guess I got the car bug from my pops and you and your brother always having cool cars around. Your kind heart and soul will be sorely missed. The precious things that you have given me through the years that remain on my shop walls I will hold dear in my heart forever. It's been a privilege to have your friendship - you'll be truly missed and in my heart always - God Speed - Love Gary

Always looked up to Neil as the next door neighbor who was quick with a joke, and kind to younger kids. As a side note to Janet and Mark, the puppet stage you gave me when you moved to 37th Street around 1964 is grandly operational in my niece's third-grade classroom. Always enjoyed your family! With every best wish... Andy.
