ROSE MARIE CHAMBERS
September 30, 1934 ~ July 27, 2018
"Rose Marie was passionate about equality
and women's rights."

Rose Marie Chambers, 83, passed away July 27, 2018 in a Portland, OR hospital of natural causes. She was born and raised in Stayton, OR as the oldest daughter of Gus and Marie Kirsch.
Rose Marie graduated from the University of Portland School of Nursing in 1956 and became an RN at the original St. Vincent's Hospital in Portland, OR.
In 1957, she married Carroll C. Chambers and eventually moved to Vancouver, WA where she co-owned C.C. Chambers Sign Co.
A 54-year resident of the Arnada Neighborhood, she was active in the Neighborhood Association and served as past president.
After Carroll's death in 1973, Rose Marie went back to Portland State University to become an accountant and then worked for the Portland Metropolitan Steering Committee and the YWCA of Clark County.
An avid baseball fan (Go Mariners and Giants), she also loved watching tennis, enjoyed reading mysteries, history books, attending the Magenta Theater and spending time at the Oregon coast. Part of Rose Marie's 15 minutes of fame was spent playing Mrs. Doubtfire in the Vancouver Furniture Mattress Factory Outlet commercial. "A penny saved is a penny earned".
Rose Marie is survived by her children, Neil (Vicki) Chambers, Elizabeth (Dave) Terndrup, Nancy (Mark) Pachlhofer, Carroll (Gabi) Kompel and Susan (David) Hathaway; brother, Jim (Bonnie) Kirsch; sister, Katherine Kirsch; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Chambers; son, Walter Kritchlow; sister, Elizabeth Kirsch; and her brother, Steven Kirsch.
She was buried at Willamette National Cemetery on August 2, 2018 in a small service.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 29th at 3:00 p.m. at the Red Cross Building located at 750 Anderson Street - The Historic Trust, Vancouver, WA. RSVP to [email protected]

When I think of your Mom our neighborhood growing up is always first. She always made it a safe place for us to play and grow.With that there are many of us that still 60 years later are still in touch with each others.My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.Sorry I will be in California in Sept. but look forward to here all the memories that are shared.
