MARY ANN TOKOLA STECHER
May 21, 1921 ~ March 18, 2018
Mary Ann Tokola Stecher, 96, of Vancouver, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 18. She was born in Rautio, Finland May 21, 1921 to George and Hannah Tokola. Along with her sisters, Alice and Ina, the family immigrated to the United States in 1930, first to Hanna, Wyoming and eventually to Vancouver, Washington.
Mary was graduated from Vancouver High School in 1940 and attended beauty school in Portland, Oregon.
She was married to Charles Stecher on her twenty second birthday in 1943.
Mary and Charles raised their three children, James Stecher (Donna) of Aloha, Oregon, Judith Harrod, (Allen) of Corvalis, Oregon and Jack Stecher (Karen) of Dallas, Texas, in Vancouver where Charles Stecher practiced dentistry for thirty three years.
Mary and Charles enjoyed golf, playing bridge, and the company of their many wonderful friends in Vancouver and in Bermuda Dunes, California.
Mary is survived by her three children; her sister, Ina Lindbom; grandchildren, Christopher Stecher of Lake Oswego, Oregon and Rebeca Frazier of Baltimore, Maryland; and great-grandchildren, Cole and Emerson Stecher, and Myka Frazier. Mary and Charles also are survived by four step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held in June.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Vancouver in the name of Mary and Charles Stecher.

Not knowing Mary is a loss but I was associated with Charles for many years and it was a was a joy, first as a model for his dentistry license exam then as his barber after I was working.
He also was the landlord of our son and daughter in Law FOR their beauty salon.
I'm sure she was a great influence on this great gentleman My con dolences to the family.
