Margaret Dorman Obituary

MARGARET ANN DORMAN
January 28, 1937 ~ February 22, 2018
"Margaret was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, and friend to all."

Margaret Dorman of Vancouver, Washington, passed away February 22, 2018 at the age of 81. She was born on the "Big Island" in Pahala, Hawaii and was the eldest of two daughters to George and Annie Esslemont. After growing up and living on a sugar cane plantation, she moved to Santa Rosa, California and then to Ventura, California where she graduated from Ventura College in 1957.
Margaret married the love of her life, Clifford Gerald Dorman, in 1957. The two lived in Ventura, California where they had two sons, Mike and Kevin. They moved to Clark County, Washington in 1968 and settled down in La Center, Washington. Cliff and Margaret purchased land and built their home on five acres where they raised their two sons. They also enjoyed their own "little" farm that included cattle, pigs, chickens, and a big vegetable garden they shared with Grandpa (Clifford) and Grandma (Ruth) Dorman.
In search of a better school system for their two sons, Cliff and Margaret moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1977 and remained there until 1987. They built their "dream" house back in La Center, Washington on five acres of land. After 30 + years of living in La Center, her loving husband passed away in November 2011.
Although Margaret wanted to stay in La Center, she wanted to be closer to her family and friends in Vancouver. In 2013, she settled down in "The Villas at Salmon Creek". She lived there for five wonderful years where she developed many great friendships and enjoyed doing all sorts of activities with the community including the daily walks with their dogs.
Margaret was a devoted and loving mother to her children and her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Brittany. She had many hobbies to make her feel young; some of her favorites were bowling, water aerobics, ceramic painting, lunch with friends at the casino and walking her very energetic pup Lacey. She especially enjoyed the holidays and family get-togethers.
Margaret was a strong "feisty" woman
with a good sense of humor.
She enjoyed her work in the La Center school cafeteria and over 20 years as a bookkeeper.
Margaret was a sports fanatic and enjoyed watching the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners and Portland Trailblazers on television. Margaret was a devoted wife to Cliff, devoted mother to Mike and Kevin, and a very loving grandmother to Jeffery and Brittany. Margaret also had a very "special" close relationship with her younger sister, Roberta "Bobbi" and her husband Frank.
Margaret is survived by her son, Kevin; grandson, Jeffery; granddaughter, Brittany; sister, Roberta "Bobbi" and husband Frank; and daughter-in-law, Debbie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff (Gerald); son, Mike; and parents, George and Annie Esslemont.
A celebration of Margaret's life will be held for family and friends at Summit View Church, Felida Campus, at 11718 N.W. 31st Avenue, Vancouver, Washington on March 14th at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clark County Humane Society of Southwest Washington.
