Ralph Carlson Obituary

RALPH RICHARD CARLSON
May 23, 1936 ~ September 28, 2016
"Dick will be sorely missed by everyone who
knew him and loved him for his quick smile,
easy going nature, and wonderful sense of humor."

Ralph Richard Carlson, known by friends and family as Dick, passed peacefully early morning September 28, 2016.
He was born May 23, 1936 and grew up in Portland, OR, graduating from Lincoln High School.
Dick served in the Army during the Korean War.
He lived in SW Portland working in the construction field all of his life. Dick was the owner of Grady, Harper, Carlson, Inc. (GHC, Inc.), which he retired from in 1996.
He was an active member of his community: as a lifetime member of the Masons, an active member of the Columbia River Yacht Club serving on many committees and was instrumental in the current club house.
When Dick moved to Ridgefield, WA in the Mid 90's, he became an active member of the Ridgefield Lions, working on local bird blind at the wilderness refuge, using his construction background serving on the Overlook Park committee and Abrams Park patio update.
Dick's hobbies were fishing, wood working, his family and friends. He enjoyed a 45-year standing date with his fishing buddies every June. In more recent years, he met every morning for coffee at the Liberty Theater with friends (Coffee Problem Solvers of Ridgefield).
Dick is survived by his wife, Donna; three sons, Jeff, Bob, and Michael; two daughters, Deanna and Teffany; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 21718 NE 29th Ave., Ridgefield, WA 98642.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in his remembrance to the Lions Club International Foundation at www.lcif.org.
