EVELYN BECKER
November 4, 1923 ~ August 28, 2016
"Evelyn will be missed by everyone."
Evelyn Becker passed away peacefully Sunday morning Aug. 28, 2016, in Vancouver, WA, with family surrounding her. She was born in Wisconsin to Floyd and Viola Bailey in 1923. The Bailey's and Becker's were members of the same church in Menominee, WI and it was through that connection John and Evelyn met and married.
The new parents and their newborn son, Jack, at the age of 3 months, left Wisconsin and moved to Vancouver, WA where they made their home. John found employment at the Kaiser Shipyards. Delores was born in 1945 after her father was shipped to the Philippines.
After the war, the family settled into building the future. John died in 1980. Evelyn enjoyed helping her church with its missionary outreach. Her biggest joy came from her children, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Another great joy of her life was her flowers and gardening.
Evelyn was there with a helping hand for whatever project her family needed help with. We banned her from roofing projects when she was 80 - to her dismay!
A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Sat., Sept. 3, 2016 at 2:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Community Home and Health & Hospice, 3102 NE 134th St., Vancouver, WA 98686.

I've just learned of your dear mom's homegoing. I loved her! She was a lady of dignity for sure. Still have fond memories of her help with the sale when my folks were getting to move into Van Mall Retirement Community. She & Betty King & I had many laughs. My sympathies to you both, Jack & Delores. But what hope to know we'll see her again one day soon.
