Random late post here... But I came across this just recently. I knew the Peters family because my family lived essentially across the street from them in Vancouver WA. I considered Johnny Peters to be my best childhood friend. We had a lot of fun together as kids. It was tough when my family moved us to Hazel Dell after 7th grade (at like 12 years old). In those days, there was no way for a kid to stay connected with friends. But I think about that time in my life often. I am sad to learn of Stan's passing (and Eva's) although since I am 60 years old now, I guess it makes sense. It would be wonderful to know how life for my friend Johnny turned out. I hope all is well.

Stan and my dad, Randy Thompson, spent many years working together for the police association. I don't think I ever missed a picnic or a circus as a child. I have a lot of fond memories of those times, and Stan's smile and laughter will forever be a part of those memories. I also had the pleasure of working in the police association's office during the summer. My condolences to his family.

Stan was helpful to me in securing PPA and Oregon Council of Police Associations endorsements in my race for Attorney General in 1980. He was a thoughtful advisor, and a gentleman. It was obvious how much his peers respected him. My condolences to all family and friends.

I extend my sympathy and hope that your family can survive this tragedy with your heads held high as your father was a giant of man.He worked with my late husband, Butch Thomas, and was always spoken of with admiration. I treasure the police picnics he organized and carried out with lots of laughter and fun. Be thankful he gave so many an excellent example to follow.

Stand was the foundation for the success of the Police union and a valiant fighter for police officers rights. A better defender could not be found.

It's with sadness that we say goodbye to Stan. I was on the PPB during all the years he represented us, and he was absolutely the best PPA president the PPB ever had. During the hardest of times, Stan stood tall and represented us in a firm, dignified manner. The City and opposing forces never let up, and Stan never weakened as he fought every battle. So much can be said, but just know that much of what retirees and officers serving today have, Stan Peters fought for and achieved.
He was truly a remarkable man.

Some of my fondess memories are the trips that Stan and I would take in our plane up to BC and go fishing. We spent many hours on the water talking about our lives and enjoying our time together. Also we had many great golf games together and dinners with Stan & Lynn. Randy, Paula and I send you our condolences.

As a PO in the 80's, I watched and admired Stan Peters as the PPA president. After joining PPB, I had occasion to meet him on the phone while doing research and he was very kind and helpful going out of his way to help me. He was a great man and I am sorry for your loss.

As the letter carrier who succeeded Molly, I (and she previously) had the pleasure of greeting Stan virtually every morning for many years as I walked up all those stairs to the former PPA office at SE 19th & Morrison. Stan's imposing figure belied a most friendly nature - even so, I still called him Mr. Peters. He was a nice guy and it saddens me to learn of his passing. Blessings to the family.

I was part of Stan's Portland Police Bureau Family. Stan was the most dynamic person you'd ever want to meet, and the Best Union President we've ever had. This is a real loss, and my condolences to the family
