Larry Questad Obituary

LARRY QUESTAD
August 1944 ~ March 2011

Larry became a believer and follower of Jesus Christ as a young adult. He was steadfast and loyal in his faith, and to his marriage, family and friends. He was an inspiration and a well of strength to his wife and family, especially during his two year battle with colon cancer. Monday evening he passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by all of his loved ones.
He died as he lived his life; quietly and without fanfare. "Like a horse to the barn; Dad always was in a hurry to go home!" His family can now rest assured that he is at peace in his heavenly home.
Larry was born in California in August of 1944 to Alfred and Inga Questad. He moved to Seattle, WA at the age of 1. There the family grew to include two brothers, Dale and Bruce, and one sister, Kathy (Conley).
The three Questad boys were quite adventurous and Larry's sense of humor and love of a good joke followed him thru life. As a teenager, Larry began working with his father in construction.
When Larry was 19, he met the love of his life, Judy Anderson. Larry and Judy were married on October 2, 1965. Exactly one year later they were blest with their first son. It was around this time Larry began working in the Seattle shipyards. Baby number one was quickly followed by 3 more children over the next 4 years. The Larry Questad household was beginning to be very busy indeed!
When they were expecting baby number 5, in 1972, they moved to the Vancouver area and Larry began working in the home construction industry there. In 1980, Larry and Judy bought an old farm house with 9 acres in Ridgefield, WA where they would go on to raise their 11 kids. This is still the family home.
Each of Larry's 5 sons followed him into the construction industry and became self-employed. In 1991, Larry began running jobs for his oldest son Mark's company, in Longview, WA. He worked there until he retired in 2009.
Larry was always ready with a quiet word of encouragement for the struggling believer. In tough times friends and family knew they could depend on Larry to give a helping hand or words of wisdom. Larry's faith flourished at Vancouver Apostolic Lutheran Church where he developed a special friendship with Pastor Nathan Juntunen. He served on the church board for several years until his death. He will be missed by many there.
Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy; their 11 children: Mark (Sandra), Larry (Emily), Tami (John) Marsolek, Tina (Artemio) Benitez, Wendy (Dan) Marsolek, Susan (Kevin) Karnes, David, Steven (Crystal), Diana (Shane) Benjamson, Carrie (Julio) Guardado, and Thomas; 51 grandchildren (and counting...); his brothers, Dale and Bruce; his sister, Kathy Conley; in-laws, aunts, uncles, many cousins and nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral service held at Hockinson Apostolic Lutheran Church, 16108 NE 192nd Ave., Brush Prairie, WA, 98606, Sunday, March 13th at 3:00 p.m., viewing to begin at 2:30.

God blessed me with an older cousin, Larry. I have many memories of him when we were younger, as I spent many nights there at their home with cousin Kathy. Yet the memories of time spent these last two years visitng with Larry and Judy will always remain in our minds. Stan and I were able to visit them and have wonderful times talking about old times and, most importantly, of the wonderful heavenly Father we have. Faith was very important to Larry and to Judy, and we shared so much during our visits. I thank God for giving us those memoiries and pray that the wonderful memories the family has of him will bring comfort and that God would grant them peace. We whisper your names in our prayers. Stan and Shilrey (Snohomish, Wa.)

Dear Judy and family,
May our Lord in His abundant love and peace hold you close to Him through this time. Lean on Him in the days to come and rest sweetly in His embrace. Praying for you all.
