Lance Cpl. Cedric Bruns, 22, of Vancouver, Wash., was a Prairie High School graduate who arrived in Kuwait in January for his first tour of duty overseas. The Marine reservist died May 9, 2003, when the pickup truck he was driving collided with a logistics support vehicle, similar to a flatbed truck. Bruns was a combat engineer in a unit trained to do "anything from demolition to building," said Gunnery Sgt. Rick Nelson.

Just thinking about you tonight. Wonder what you would have done, who you would have been. Wish I wasn´t messing around in a different tent and got to say hi that last day.

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Cedric E. Bruns US Marine Lance Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Missing my friend, love you Cedric but sad and mad that you are not here for me to talk to, you were there for me always and now all I have is a website to talk to instead of my best friend. I want more than anything for you to be here right now, devasted that I can't wrap my arms around you and have the best hug in the world, I miss that most of all. I always thought you would be here with me, I feel you with me and my little Cedric everyday but would give anything in the world to be able to hug you, hear your voice, see you, hear one of your obnoxious jokes, watch a stupid movie with you, or just to have my best friend for a few more minutes. I love that your family is in mine and my sons life but nothing takes your place. I love you and miss you more than anyone can ever know.

4th of July as the country is celebrating, it amazes me how many people I have come across that think today is about bbq's, fireworks, swimming and hanging out with loved ones. Those things are great but to me today represents the freedom I enjoy everyday because of the brave soldiers that have fought and sacrificed so much. My family ia honoring you today Cedric, I hate having another day pass that I dont have you here but me and my family have remembered and honored you today. Thank you my friend, I love you as I do everyday and thank you for giving your life for what you believed so deeply in! Miss and love you more everyday!

I hope they deploy me. I hoped for the opposit and was devestated when it happened but your commitment and integrity are some of the things I loved about you are also the things that made you a great soldier and I never got a chance to tell you how proud I was, and still am of you. You gave the ultimate sacrifice and I miss you as much as I respect you. I love you bro!

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,000 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Cedric, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Cedric,
friend, buddy and pal. I look back on us from way back from primary school to high school and the times we hung out in the cave in the canyon by your house. The daily school bus rides we took as we managed to find a little trouble with the bus driver and your mom getting on the bus to give us a lecture, haha.. I will never forget the times we had growing up together. You gave the ultimate gift and sacrafice to your friends and country. thank you buddy, youll not be forgotten

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

To the family and friends
I have only just begun this journey and may not have known your loved one personally.
I extend to you my deepest condolences. No words will ever express the grief those close to this lost treasure are feeling. I can only say that I can share this grief as I too lost a loved one July 8, 2006. I will continue to pray for the safety of our soldiers and especially the family and friends of our lost hero’s. I only hope the memories will carry us through. I will continue pray that you also will believe and know that our heavenly father will not give us more than we can handle.
As always I read (and cry) through the memorials of our lost hero’s, So many people have already expressed the things I would also say. I am amazed and take comfort that so many people care. I can only thank you for the sacrifice you and especially Cedric have made to protect our country. As others have said “I am only an email away.” I would be honored if you so choose to share about this fine hero.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
