Jeremiah Jewel Johnson, born August 18, 1983 to David and Elizabeth Johnson, died January 5, 2007 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. Jeremiah attended Cornerstone Christian School and graduated from Prairie High School in 2001. He was a standout baseball player since starting T-Ball with Salmon Creek Little League, onto Hazel Dell Metro High School Ball and Ryder baseball. He was Defensive Player of the Year at Prairie his Senior year. Jeremiah was adventurous, spontaneous and loved to go camping, fishing and hiking. His interests also included hunting, cars, poker and the annual Johnson family cousin campout. He was in ROTC at Prairie High, which led him to one of his dreams; he joined the Army in 2003 and was based in Fort Richardson, AK. He was deployed to Iraq in Oct. 2006. On Dec. 26, 2006, while on patrol in Baghdad, he was involved in a Humvee rollover accident which sent his vehicle into a deep canal. He was sent to the medical center in Landstuhl, Germany on Dec. 27, where he succumbed to his injuries on Jan. 5, 2007. Jeremiah is survived by his wife, Gale; children, Isaiah and Rya; mother and father, David and Elizabeth; sisters, Naphtali and Laurdlee; brothers, Zachary and Timothy; grandma, Laura Campbell; grandpa, Archie Johnson and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Memorial service will be Friday, January 12, 2007, at 1:00pm, at First Church of God, 3300 NE 78th St. Graveside service is Sat., Jan. 13, 2007, at 1:00pm, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, reception following. Benevolent fund set up in Jeremiah's name at any Washington Mutual Bank.
