TIMOTHY HEGEDUS
Tim Hegedus, 71, passed away at home surrounded by his family April 30, 2021 after a short two month battle with cancer.
He was the son of Don and JoAnne Hegedus of Longview, WA. He attended CWSC in Ellensburg where he met his wife Jackie. Upon graduation they moved to Vancouver where they built a life they loved. He began a career at the VSD as a teacher, friend, coach, & mentor. He always said he would quit teaching when it wasn’t fun anymore. That’s why he was working in some capacity for over 45 years. CR was his second home and family and he will always be a Chieftain.
Tim loved everything about the outdoors and win or lose, the Seahawks were his team. He was so proud of the cabin he and Jackie built at the beach. Lots of fun times & memories were made there with family and friends. Most of all he loved his family, whether by blood or extended. He loved planning trips for the whole family, Disneyworld, Alaska, Lake Shasta, Hawaii, Spring Training, Bahamas, Mexico, and many more.
Anything he could do for his family or friends he would without thinking twice. Drives to college, putting in lawns & decks, rototilling, food trips, Seahawk games, or just listening and giving advice.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jackie; children, Brent Hegedus, Jennifer and Matt Dockter; grandchildren, Makensie and Timothy Belmont, Taylor Dockter and Maya Hegedus; mother, JoAnne; sister, Kim; sisters-in-law, Marjorie, Connie and Judy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Tim’s wish was for people to make a donation to the Columbia River Athletic Hall of Fame Fund at the Community Foundation for SW Washington at https://www.cfsww.org/
“The little boat of you & me went sailing on the deep blue sea. We weathered winds & crashing waves and we were strong & true & brave. And we were still in love so we kept sailing on the deep blue sea. The little boat of you & me.”

Although we communicated mostly through XMAS cards and emails , Tim was always a wonderful person sharing family happenings. When my father, Jack, passed away in 2011, both Tim and Uncle Don came for his funeral in Bismarck. Uncle Don provided unknown information about some of their formative years in Bismarck. Their presence meant a lot to my mother, Vera, and the rest of the family. I was hoping to someday meet with Tim during spring training in Arizona. I send condolences to Jackie and Aunt JoAnne from Texas. We keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

RIP Hegedus. I will forever hear that whistle in my head and see that hand moving to speed it up, any time I am in a body of water. So many years ago. Rest peacefully friend, coach.
