THORA M. JACKSON
October 4, 1937 ˜ January 15,
2019
“Well done, good and faithful
servant”

Surrounded by her loving family, Thora Marie Jackson, 81, went to her heavenly home on January 15, 2019 after a brave and prolonged struggle with serious illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her to the very end and ultimately gave her peace.
Thora was born in Eugene, OR on October 4, 1937 to Ranald and Ethyl Seaver. She was raised and educated in Cottage Grove, OR before graduating from the University of Oregon in 1959.
Thora met Adam, her devoted husband of 50 years, on a blind date while earning a Master of Education degree at the University of Missouri. They married in Rock Island, IL on October 12, 1968 and settled in Vancouver, WA in 1973 where they raised their three children.
Thora was a lifelong learner who took a keen interest in the world around her. An educator at heart, she was also business-savvy and enjoyed a successful second career in real estate after teaching mathematics at Clark College for many years. Thora was also a living example of her Christian faith. She was generous with her time, energy and talents and enjoyed supporting various ministries and causes, including housing numerous people in her home throughout the years. She and Adam often combined her avid love of world travel with mission trips.
Thora is survived by her husband, Adam; her son, Douglas and daughter-in-law, Lindsey; her daughter, Sheryl Bagnas and son-in-law, Raymond; her daughter, Christina Russey and son-in-law, Michael; and two beloved grandsons, Lucas Russey and Nathan Russey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, William ”Bill” Seaver.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church Chapel, 7708 NE 78th Street, Vancouver, WA 98662 with a reception to follow at The Heathman Lodge, 7801 NE Greenwood Dr., Vancouver, WA 98662.
The family respectfully declines flowers and donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted.
