January 30,1930 ~ September 15, 2015

Joyce Olson, a long-time resident of the Vancouver, WA area, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in the home of her daughter Carla, and son-in-law Bill, where she had resided the past two years.
Born in 1930 in Powell, Wyoming, Joyce was an only child and the sparkle to her dad's eye. During the war they relocated to the West and eventually settled permanently in Vancouver, Washington.
Joyce was a great woman with a warm heart, beautiful smile and actively helped others whenever possible. She enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and many places overseas. She shared this love with many of her family. A bit of a spitfire, she would "swat at you" if you didn't watch yourself, recalls her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children, Karen Flanery (Lex), Vicki Tomasino (Eric), Carla Munson (Bill), Kelly Fitzpatrick (Mike), John Frazier (Lisa) and Eric Olson (Pam). She was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Joyce was close to her family and will be missed greatly as a mother, grandmother and friend.
Her service is being held Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1309 Franklin St., in downtown Vancouver. There will be a reception at the Church following the Memorial Service. If you would like to make a donation to the Vancouver Share House in Joyce's memory, please call 360-695-9677, or mail to 2306 NE Andresen Road, Vancouver, WA 98661.

Momma, yesterday was Mike and my 35th wedding Anniversary. I'll always cherish the last words you said to me the night before you died. In a weak little voice you said "I love you". That anniversary will always be my best one. I miss our early morning chats, our silly laugh therapies, the silly tongue gestures and of course the "kneading of the fat spots around my love handles when you put your arms around me". I wear your finger print necklace around my neck everyday so that you are always with me.There hasn't been a day in the last five years that I haven't thought about you and wanted to talk to you. I miss you so much. The time is drawing near when I'll get to see you again. Jesus is calling! Love you momma.

The world lost a beautiful lady. My Aunt Betty and Joyce had such a close friendship, always together, that I also considered Joyce my Aunt. I pray that Gods grace resides on all aching hearts.

Joyce you touched my heart in so many ways. My children also loved you, and I so enjoyed our walks together, our crafting projects, & just sitting together and watching the animals in Carla & Bill's yard. Thank you for loving me!

I have fond and loving memories of this dear woman, who always greeted me with a big smile and a hug whenever I saw her! Joyce was family to us and our Aunt Betty's BEST FRIEND FOREVER. Now they're resting peacefully in Heaven, together again eternally. Happy Trails, Ladies!! Until we meet again!!!!
