NANCY BISHOP Obituary

NANCY ANN (COLEMAN) BISHOP
June 14,1959 ~ April 17, 2013
"When you think of Nancy, remember her smile,
her kindness, her caring, her faith,
and her love for her family."

A much loved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many, Nancy Bishop, 53, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 17, 2013, after a very sudden severe short battle with pancreatic cancer.
She will be missed by her large family and many friends.
Nancy was born in Tacoma, WA on June 14, 1959 to Ambrose and Frances Coleman. She graduated from Franklin Pierce High School and moved to Minnesota where she worked for ten years before returning to Tacoma to care for her parents and work for Spectrum Pension Consultants.
On October 10, 1998 she married the love of her life, Richard Bishop, and moved to Vancouver, WA.
She was active at her church and she was a generous volunteer with the Journey Theater Arts Group as well as her children's classes at Minnehaha Elementary School.
Nancy lived for her family and friends.
She loved her flowers, her home, her garden, her church and her Disney cruises with Richard, Jordan, and Abigail.
Nancy was a person who had a very strong determination to achieve her goals, and she was not one to let anything get in her way when there was something she wanted to accomplish. She was supported in all of her endeavors by her strong faith.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard; her son, Jordan, 15; her daughter, Abigail, 10; her brothers, Ronald (Linda) Coleman, of Tacoma, WA, Richard (Teresa) Coleman of Tacoma, WA; her sisters, Carol (Donald) Jakubiec of Zimmerman, MN, Connie (Raymond) Hayes of Cinebar, WA; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 400 South Andresen Rd., Vancouver, WA at 1:30 p.m. on Sat., April 20, 2013, followed by a reception at the parish hall. There will be visitation at Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home, 302 W. 11th St., Vancouver, WA from 4-7:30 p.m. on Fri., April 19, 2013, followed by the Rosary there at 7:30 p.m. At a later date, there will be a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma, WA, where Nancy will be interred next to her parents.

So its, April 23, and a co worker just called to tell me the news. I cant believe Nancy will no longer be visiting me in my chair. For 10 years, every 5 weeks I have had the great opportunity to spend 2 hours, cutting, coloring, waxing this beautiful woman's hair. She would come in and let loose all her troubles, tell me how proud she is of all her family and what she has done the past 5 weeks. As i remove her existing appointments I am extremely saddened by this news. My heart goes out to Richard and the kids and her family. I feel like I have been apart of your lives and feel horrible I didnt get a chance to make it to her service. Only finding out today.
God has received a wonderful woman and I will always remember her and be grateful to have known her.

Our hearts go out to Richard, Jordan, Abby and family, We are neighbors with this family, and Nancy was like a beam of light walking almost daily thru the neighborhood with her children, you could see her coming down the street, her beautiful blonde hair and always a smile and a wave and would stop to visit !! She was a beautiful testimony to our neighborhood. Nancy was a loving kind woman, and wonderful mother, and she made her house a home, the flowers she planted, her beautiful red House and her white picket fence. We will surely miss her ! God bless this family, Ron and Sheri Heidenreich

My sincere condolences to the Bishop and the Coleman families. this was just shocking news, My memory of Nancy at the family reunion was how engaged she was to everyone she spoke to and how she glowed when speaking of her family. I wish I could be there to help with anything to make this easier, but know the family is in my thoughts and prayers. Peace and Love, Sheryl Meinke Reed

Nancy, I will never forget you. For you had one of the kindest hearts I know. Since being a little girl, you made it very clear that your door was always open for me. I remember being excited after school because I was going to run next door to Nancy's house just to hang out. I remember spending countless hours just hanging out with Jordan, Abby, and you. We would do arts and crafts, watch a movie, play games, or water your beautiful flowers. I remember that you taught me that you can freeze Go-Gurts. I was so amazed that I ran next door and asked my mom to buy some so that I could freeze them like you do. You valued your family so much and your love for your family always shined through. You were always thinking of others before yourself. For example, when ever your family and you went on vacation, you always brought me back a little gift of some sort. Usually something Disney of course. You were an important person in my life. To me, you were not only my neighbor, but a type of family member, mentor, and friend. I tried to make it back home from college to give you a visit but I did not make it in time. My heart is saddened that you are gone. Although you are no longer here in person, your spirit lives on and I know you will watch over your family and friends. I will continue to pray for Richard, Jordan, and Abby, that their hearts may overcome this tragedy and that God gives them the strength that they need. I love you Nancy and will miss you very much.

So sad and so quick.
At the Spahn Family Reunion in 2011, Minnesota, I was lucky to again visit with my younger cousin Nancy and meet her family. What a wonderful time to see her all grown up and hear about her wonderful husband and children and the gardening, etc. Best to her loved ones, friends and all she helped and loved.
