WAYNE SMITH
October 26, 1929 ~ May 1, 2012
Wayne Smith, 82, of Woodland, WA, passed away on May 1, 2012. He was born in Gordon, NE to Robert and Edna Smith on Oct. 26, 1929.
Wayne married Dorine, "The only good thing to come out of Idaho," on Feb. 25, 1950. Together they raised six children in Vancouver and successfully owned and operated Wayne Smith Excavating for 25 years.
They retired to Ocean Park, WA for 18 wonderful years before moving to Woodland, WA in September of 2009.
Dad and mom taught us the value of hard work, to have fun and the importance of family. As children, we camped, hunted, fished, water-skied, rode motorcycles and lived a life full of love and laughter.
Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Dorine; son, Ronald (Yvonne); daughter, Susan Dolph of Phoenix (Rone); son, Craig of Seattle; daughter, Karen Frogge (Kenny); daughter, Nancy Brothers (Cameron); son, Brian; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Roberta "Tootie" Small, Jeanette Kitterman and Annette Kitterman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edna; sisters, Angeline and Edna Mae; and brothers, Lavern, Franklin, Lowell and Clifford "Jerry".
Viewing will be Sun., May 6, 2012 from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Mon., May 7 at 12:30 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Graveside service to follow.
