ETHEL JOAN "LITA" LARSEN GALLEGOS
January 28, 1932 ~ March 22, 2012
Ethel Joan "Lita" Larsen Gallegos, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on March 22, 2012. She was born in Silvana, WA on Jan. 28, 1932, the third child of Peder D. and Olga (Andersen) Larsen. The family lived in several northern Washington towns before settling in Enumclaw, WA in 1936. In 1946, they moved to Eugene, OR where Lita graduated from the University High School in 1950.
She attended the University of Oregon until 1953 and then married Stephen L. Bulfinch. They divorced in 1967.
In 1971, she married Alfred Gallegos and remained in Portland from 1967 to 1994.
She was a plywood broker for Douglas Forest Materials until retiring in 1981. Lita and Al traveled extensively in the 1980's and 1990's around America and much of Western Europe.
They moved to Fairway Village in Vancouver in 1994 and Al passed away in 2003. Following Al's death, Lita continued to travel, exploring her Norwegian roots with 8 trips to Norway and many other adventures.
Lita is survived by her beloved niece, Cynthia Gallegos of Kennewick, WA; two great-nephews, Nolan Gallegos of Kennewick and Michael Gallegos of Palo Alto, CA; and many loved cousins in Norway. She is also survived by her dear friend, Jack LeBle and his wonderful family.
