JOHN CHARLES LIVESAY
June 15, 1937 ~ August 17, 2014

John Charles Livesay, 77, of Vancouver, WA, passed away Aug. 17, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was the only child of Charles Wallace Livesay, Jr. and Ruth King Livesay, born June 15, 1937 in Portland, OR. John graduated from Jefferson High School in 1955.
He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State College in 1960. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sharon Lee Bynum and was married that same year.
John went to work for the Utah Fish and Game Dept. in 1962. His first assignment was on the Flaming Gorge Reservoir Research project. There after, he transferred to Price, UT, where he was regional supervisor for the last 8 years of his employment, retiring after 25 years of service.
John served in the Air National Guard and Air Reserve for 34 years, both in Portland, OR and Salt Lake City, UT.
John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Price, UT where he served as a deacon for many years. Upon moving to the Vancouver area, he attended the First Evangelist Church and for the past 10 years, was a member of Brush Prairie Baptist Church. John became a Christian in 1972 when the Lord called him from "hiding behind the hymnal". He so enjoyed visiting the shut-ins and lifting others up in prayer. He also, strongly believed in helping people in places he would never be able to physically go.
John greatly enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter of geese, deer and elk. But his favorite was clamming and shrimping.
John had such a great sense of humor
that was evident up to the final hours of his life.
He loved playing practical jokes and riding around
the property on his John Deere Gator.
John is survived by his wife, Sharon, of 53 years; daughters, Lorie (Paul) Chatfield of Pocatello, ID, Judy (Jeff) Ballard of Kelso, WA and Susan (Bob) Hyde of Price, UT; grandchildren, Kevin Chatfield, Jennifer (Kip) Armstrong, Jeremy and Johanna Ballard, Samantha, Kris (Kattie) and Brandon Hyde; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thurs., Aug. 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Brush Prairie Baptist Church, 11814 NE 117th Ave., Vancouver, WA.
In lieu of flowers, John would want you to contribute to Samaritans Purse in his name: P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000. www.samaritanspurse.org.

Sorry I lost track of you when you moved out of Price. I admired him. My husband Al Gray, died 4-11-14 here in Price, he was almost 87 years old. I will stay here until I die. We know that they are both in heaven celebrating. No more pain. It is hard
living without them, but we will meet them again.Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine.

Sharon - John will be missed by so many, but none more than you and your girls. John was so kind hearted and gave everyone his all. I knew John because of my dad (Stan Carter), John was like a second father to me. I will always remember the times he would come for summer camp and right before it was over he and Stan would go to Hill for groceries. That little Dotson station wagon was so full I really thought the front wheels would come right off the ground, but he always made it home. I know in my heart that John is with his Load an Stan, but most importantly he will always be in your heart.

John:
Unfortunately, our acquaintanceship with you was much to short. But during this short period we became fast friends. Dillard certainly enjoyed reminiscing about mutual acquaintances and friends from Oregon State University and Utah State University. We traveled many of the same trails, separated by a decade or so, and fortunately the trails crossed recently in Glenwood Place. We had lots of stories left untold--but maybe later. We miss you John.
