Published by Legacy Remembers on May 18, 2014.

JANE C. LEONARD
June 22, 1957 - May 8, 2014

Jane C. Leonard, Clark County's longtime graphic designer, died last Thursday of cancer. She was 56.
Jane's unerring eye for good design, creativity and high standards elevated the quality of every project she touched.
She applied artistry to all she did, producing pieces for nearly every county department and in every shape and size. During her 22-1/2 years with Clark County, Jane was recognized for exceptional work and extraordinary efforts to save taxpayer dollars. She won numerous awards from the National Association of County Information Officers and the City-County Communications and Marketing Association.
Jane gave generously of her time and talent to the Clark County Historical Museum, where she designed exhibits and program information and promoted events.
Born and reared in England, Jane and her husband, Geoffrey, emigrated to the United States in 1989 and moved to Vancouver, WA in 1991.
Jane is survived by her husband, Geoffrey Fowler; mother, Ann Foreman of Vancouver; step-mother, Lynn of Ottawa, Canada; sisters, Katharine (Alan Shotwell) of Beaverton, OR, Polly of Ottawa; brothers, Nicholas of Ottowa, David of England; niece, Rachel; and nephew, Cameron.
She was preceded in death by her father, Peter.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thurs., May 22, at the Clark County Historical Museum, 1511 Main St., Vancouver, WA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

So sad to just to have discovered this news courtesy of the web. Lorna and I have very fond memories of you both in Coventry, at the Butts and on Art Foundation with me and Lorna, then on Graphic Design with Lorna - and at our weddings! Although we weren't in touch we think about you both often... Jane was lovely.

Dear Geoffrey, I was just thinking of you and Jane and was shocked when I searched for Jane online. So young! We last saw you about 10 years ago when John and I stayed with you in your beautiful home, and you both made us so welcome even though you'd never met him before. I will always remember working with Jane at Coventry City Council in the 80s and her delightful laugh, and visiting you both in Portland when I first emigrated from England in 1991. I can't express how sorry I am at this news. Thinking of you.

Difficult to finds words of comfort to family, friends, co-workers or anyone who had the distinct pleasure of knowing Jane. She was an extraordinarily beautiful woman who selflessly shared her many talents and boundless love.

Unquestionably she'll be missed but lives on by her immense imprint in our hearts & contributions to the communities she touched.

What class and charm. I love you Jane

What words can comfort those left behind, hearts shredded to their very center? A friend, weeping quietly nearby, lights a candle.
