ALAN S. LYLE
July 26,1916 ~ April 29, 2014
Alan S. Lyle passed away peacefully on April 29, at the age of 97. He lived in Vancouver, WA for over 28 years. Alan was born in Walkerville, MT on July 26, 1916, the younger of two sons born to William and Elizabeth Lyle. He was married to the love of his life, Marie Dyer, from 1940 until her passing in 2008. He worked as a machinist for the Anaconda Mining Co. in Butte, MT from 1942 through 1960. From 1961 until his retirement in 1985, he worked for the Univ. of California at Berkeley, in the prototype lab. Locally, he was active in the Nehalem ward of the LDS church, holding various positions over the years. He loved to camp, hike, fish and drive his CJ5 Jeep over rough terrain.
He is survived by sons, Jim and Don; and daughters, Sherrie and Penny; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great- grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Viewing: Mon., May 5, 12 to 9 PM, at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Services: Tues., May 6, 1 PM at the LDS Nehalem ward, 7101 NE 166th Ave., Vancouver.
