LORRY LEONARD LEICHNER
March 24, 1928 ~ March 26, 2014
Lorry Leonard Leichner, born March 24, 1928, died at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center on March 26, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. He was 86 years old.
Lorry was born in Portland, Oregon and lived in Vancouver, Washington most of his life.
He is survived by sons, Michael (Cindy) Leichner and David Leichner, both of Vancouver; step-daughters, Susan (Tim) Wilcoxen of Vashon, WA, Karen (John) Sanders of Tacoma, WA and Roberta (Carl) Rhodes of Longview, WA; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorry attended Vancouver High School and enjoyed his participation in choir and several sports. He joined the Navy in 1950 and was stationed in Japan. After his Naval service, he returned to work in the family business, Vancouver Sanitary Service until 1984. In 1986, he founded Pride Disposal Company in Sherwood, Oregon. He enjoyed traveling, taking pictures, and spending time at his second home in Depoe Bay, Oregon. Lorry loved to spend time with family and friends and everyone will miss his hugs.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Chapel in Vancouver. Viewing will be available before the service from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m.
