Clela Mae Hedges, 91, of Vancouver, WA, passed away March 12, 2014. She was born Aug. 7, 1922 to Wilford and Elsie (Strong) Van Auken in Kennebec, SD where she finished the 11th grade.
Clela was a housewife and worked in the Vancouver Shipyards during WWII as a welder and later for the old Columbia View Manor in Vancouver.
She was a member of the Washougal Grange and Eagles.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles and ceramics.
Clela is survived by her sister, Arlene Munn; sons, Burton (Beverly), Robert (Lucy) and Mike (Betty); and daughters, Celia (Richard) Graham and Donna (David) Lampert; ; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton; brothers, Ken, Verbal, Donald, Loran, Jim and Dale Van Auken; sister, Velda.
Visitation will be held on Thurs., March 20, 2014 from 12:00-9:00 p.m. and memorial service on Fri., March 21, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
