WILLIAM GERHARDT "GARY" FECHT, JR
July 6, 1961 ~ December 16, 2017
William Gerhardt "Gary" Fecht, Jr., age 56, passed away peacefully in his home on hospice surrounded by family on Saturday, December 16, 2017. He was born July 6th, 1961, in Kearney, Nebraska to William G. "Bill" Fecht and Francis Patricia Stryker. Gary played high school football, basketball, and was an actor in the school play. He graduated in May 1979 at Amherst High School.
Gary served in the U.S. Navy from December 26th, 1979 until July 10th, 1992. He served on the U.S.S. Elliott and U.S.S. Germantown as an Operations Specialist.
Gary married Nora J. Freitag in Reno, Nevada on August 7th, 1982. They had 3 children and divorced 7 years later.
He met his wife Stephanie Snyder in January 1995, married June 7th, 2002 and had a son in 2003.
Gary graduated from ITT in 1995 and joined the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) in September 2012. He loved his work, family, vacations around the world, and football. He battled 4.9 years with Stage IV Non Small Cell Lung Cancer.
Gary is survived by his wife, Stephanie, of Vancouver, WA; children, Lyssa Lynn (Robert) Atwell, Matthew John William Fecht, Jessica Marie Fecht and Joshua David Fecht; and nieces and nephews, Dylan Tyler Nunn, Erika Heick, Chloe Snyder, Aaron Snyder and Gavin Snyder.
