WILBUR ERNEST "ERNIE" VILHAUER

Wilbur Ernest "Ernie" Vilhauer died Sept. 25, 2015 at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital in Vancouver, WA surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was the youngest 91-year-old man to ever spend time in the ICU unit according to his doctors and nurses who took amazing care of him during his time there. He was born to Magdalena and August Vilhauer on March 12, 1924 in Wishek, ND. Ernie was one of 9 children and his mother raised him to know and appreciate the Bible and its importance as a road map for living a Christ-like life.
Ernie was married to Lois Ethel Kent, May 21, 1945 in Concord, CA. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with over 75 direct and extended family members along with numerous other friends.
Ernie is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Lois Kent Vilhauer; six children, James Vilhauer, Carla Vilhauer Delaney, Bobby Vilhauer-Green (Bob), Jonna Vilhauer, Sam Vilhauer (Joni), Mark Vilhauer (Heidi); 12 grandchildren and their 10 spouses; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his oldest child, Cathy (1968).
A private family burial service with full military honors will be held on Fri., Oct. 2nd, and a celebration of Ernie's life will be held on Sat., Oct. 3rd at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, followed by a reception at the church.

Ernie left heart prints on all of us. Heart prints of love, kindness and concern. We are so honored that he was part of our lives. He helped us in so much ways through the years. We will miss our dear brother-in-law but are looking forward to seeing him again and hearing his wonderful laugh.
