VIRGIL E. NALLEY
February 22, 1932 ~ March 13, 2018
Virgil E. Nalley passed away Tues., March 13, 2018 at his home in Vancouver, WA. He was born to Thomas and Sarah (Atkisson) Nalley on Feb. 22, 1932 in Bradleyville, MO. Virgil was the eighth sibling of ten children. Virgil's family moved from Missouri to California, eventually settling in Washington state.
Virgil joined the United States Air Force in 1952 and served 20+ years of service.
After retirement, he went to work as a civilian at the Corp of Engineers in Portland, OR. He moved his family to Vancouver, WA and helped raise his granddaughter, Amy Nalley Yerkes.
Virgil was an avid NHRA drag racing fan, he had a love for planes, trains and automobiles, but ironically, hated to fly. He bowled on leagues with his wife, he loved traveling in his RV and camping. He had a strong love for music and lit up like crazy around his grand and great-grandchildren.
Virgil is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia "Edith" (Trout) Nalley; his four children, Dennis Nalley, Dale (Linda) Nalley, Dwayne Nalley and Deanna (James) Anderson; four grandchildren, Christina Carter, Amy (Shane) Yerkes, Collin Anderson and Emma Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Bram Yerkes and one soon to arrive; and a favorite cousin that was like a brother, Junior (Donna) Nalley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Sarah; 4 brothers; Troy (Leona) Nalley, Paul (Hazel) Nalley, Erna (Eunice) Nalley, Leon (Beverly) Nalley; and 5 sisters, Helen (DJ) Douglas, Juanita (Arnold) Maggard, Argie (Ralph) Sebern, Roberta (Dempsey) Watson, June (Aubrey) McCurdy.
A funeral service for Virgil will be 1:00 p.m., Mon., March 19th at The Vancouver Funeral Chapel, 110 E. 12th St., Vancouver, WA 98660. Viewing will be Monday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow on Tues., March 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the West Hills, 11800 Douglas Rd., Yakima, WA 98908.
