VERNON "VERN" L DANIELS
June 5, 1939 ~ May 16, 2017
Born June 5, 1939 in Spokane, Washington to Ernest and Barbara Daniels, Vern passed away May 16, 2017 in Vancouver, Washington at the Ray Hickey Hospice House.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Vern is survived by his wife Barbara (Boling); children, Dan Daniels, Joni Holbrook, Frank Daniels, Pamela McDonald and Michael Eastman; siblings, Marilyn Shattuck, Bill Daniels, JessAnn Norris and Doug Daniels; sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Vern served honorably in the United States Navy from 1956 - 1960. He worked for years on the Alaska Pipeline before going to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He worked for the railroad until retirement.
Vern had many passions in his life. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes. He loved going out on the river with friends and family with high hopes and expectations of hooking the "big one". He thoroughly enjoyed his flower gardens that he kept meticulously manicured. He spent many hours "scratching in the dirt" as he would put it.
He was most passionate about his family and friends. He gave much of himself serving them. As friends passed he then continued to serve them by regularly tending to their gravesites.
Vern was a man of integrity, a man who had an amazing sense of humor and wit with dozens of sayings that have become known as "Vernisms". He was humble and kind.
Vern's greatest passion of all was the true love of his life and soul mate, his bride Barb. He touched many lives and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life memorial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver WA, June 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow.
